I have read this in an instant. I liked everything about it, besides the ending. I feel, however, that this one will stay with me a while longer. It was satisfying, but so much different than other Christie's finales.

Christie really set out to write a different kind of book and succeeded enormously. I can think of a few novels where she plays with point of view, but this one strikes me as unique. The narrator is omniscient and gets into almost everybody's head, allowing the reader to be on intimate terms with many fascinating characters long before a murder occurs. The participants are touchingly real (even Poirot comes off as more subdued than the silly figure often portrayed by Hastings), so in the end events touch the reader's heart.

Not one of her best, but it's a good read nonetheless!
This book was quite different than the typical Hercule Poirot mystery. Rather than being chockfull of clues — true ones and red herrings — we get very little, and what there is is confusing and leads nowhere. We also spend a lot of time with the various characters and comparatively little with Poirot and Inspector Grange. It was welcome change of pace, and it was also nice to have a reveal that wasn't Poirot sitting down in a room with everyone.
Because we spend so much time with the characters outside of the murder investigation, the book was a bit slow at times and would have been a 3-star read if it weren't for the incomparable Lucy Angkatell, who was a wonderfully hilarious character well voiced by Hugh Fraser. I recommend this on audio.
