Okay.

This 4/5 could be a 2/5 if it weren't for the captivating illustrations for one reason and one reason only . . . this book would be a 5/5 if it included these three words: "Carry the fire."

"The Road" is my favorite book. As much as I read, it is one of the few books I have read multiple times. Those three words are so essential to the book's central theme that it is a crime for them not to be in an adaptation of the book.

That being said, Larcenet portrays the book's mood perfectly and captures the relationship between the father and son incredibly well.

This is an amazing adaptation of an equally amazing book, building upon the bleak atmosphere of the original. It still managed to make me tear up by the end.
