emotional hopeful lighthearted

One of the most realistic contemporary reverse harem/poly (MMMF) stories I’ve read. Huge thanks to Katyana for encouraging me to read this story!!

The good:
✔️Found family
✔️Orphaned baby
✔️Two professional hockey players
✔️One billionaire CEO
✔️Slow burn until it isn’t 🔥🔥🔥
✔️Male praise kink
✔️Overprotective males
✔️No cheating
✔️One sex scene with all four together

The not so good:
◾️No MM/sword crossing
◾️Miscommunication trope
◾️Lack of serious character depth
◾️3/4 breakup
◾️OTT caricature of a “bad OW”
◾️Missing details about baby’s heath
◾️Missing details on her dad. What exactly happened?

The premise:
Applying for guardianship of my infant half-brother was a no brainer, even if I hadn't known he existed. But that was before I met his uncles; two pro ice hockey players, and a CEO. They wanted to take Huey home with them and they were willing to pay me millions of dollars for the privilege.

This story was written very well, but I think it would have been better either being a little longer, or broken up into two books. There just wasn’t enough time to delve into the backstory of all four characters with any kind of believable depth. It is mentioned a few times that they go to therapy, but I was really curious on how Nova deals with not only her parents death, but the fact that her father was cheating on her mother.

I was also very interested in learning more about the men, and their childhoods/upbringing.

Overall, a well-told, non-cheesy RH with lots of love. End with a HEA.

Meh… it was kinda a copy and paste basic RH story but insert hockey and a baby ( named Huey.. yikes). I skimmed from 60% and the last 20% was chaotic with new character and a stalker from nowhere. Then bam all good in 5 seconds flat.

Actual Rating: 4.5/5

So, I jumped into this book immediately after finishing Pay-Per-Heart because of the sample chapter at the end of the book. I will say I liked Nova way more than I liked Blake. I loved how she put in so much effort to be a surrogate mom to her baby half-brother Huey. All three guys were really great. Devan and River had a pretty tragic backstory. Rigby was the quintessential golden retriever boy of the group. I also loved the support group of friends in this one too. This actually had a bit more action in the plot as well. Though I will say, the coming together of the group happened way more quickly than in Pay-Per-Heart. Definitely liked this one more.

Amazing!

I don't normally read sports romance but I love this author so I gave it a go and boy am I glad I did! This book was emotional, adorable, funny at times and just made me want to jump into the world and give them all a big hug. I also loved the side characters. This was just a really great read overall and I may have to some personal research on hockey....

I love Grace's books. When I learned she was combining my favorite sport with one of my favorite genres, I was sold.

Nova has been through the ringer. First, she lost her parents in a car accident, then she found out she has a little brother, Huey, because her dad cheated... OOOF. Plus she only finds out about him because the mom died after birth. Now she's fighting for custody of Huey against his uncles; two pro ice hockey players, and a CEO.

What happens when they decide that the best thing for Huey is for them to all live in the same house and raise Huey together? With sexual tension rising, how will Nova fight the attraction and do what she thinks is best for Huey?

This book was spicy, plot filled, loved the smut and kinks represented. It's rare to see a male with a praise kink and I LOVED it. I cried, I laughed, and I fell in love with this book. Definitely recommend.

Thank you to Grace for the advanced review copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

It's fair to say that I'm addicted to anything that Grace writes. Grace can do no wrong!

This book is really sweet and pulls on all the emotional heart strings. Nova loses both her parents in a car accident and becomes the caregiver to her baby brother, navigating all the emotions that this brings with the support of baby brothers 3 Uncles. As always we follow the great character development and world building that Grace is known for.
10/10 can not recommend this book enough.

ADORABLE READ

I truly loved this read. It was cute, and I didn’t want to put my kindle down. I fell for the guys, and I fell for Nova as well. I wish we got more entail on River and Denver’s trauma. It wasn’t spoken as much as I wished, and we didn’t get to read more of Nova’s trauma as well. Overall, this was a cute family friendly….ok, to a certain point…book unless you count those scenes where tongues and..well, you know what I mean.

I really liked this but there were some parts that annoyed me as well. Why did the baby have a heart condition in the beginning and then it’s never spoken of the rest of the book? If that’s why she wanted to adopt her half brother, it should have had a bigger part of the story. I also feel like there were a lot of hard and complex feelings that weren’t actually processed. Like her dad cheating, but also grieving his death. It seemed just glossed over. I really did like this but a lot of little things that took away from the story for me.

Stars: 3
POV: multi
HEA?: yes
Cheating: no
Cliffhanger?: no
TW: death
Tropes: adoption, mFM, menage, death of parent

This book was a lot of fun to read. I really liked the concept of a stand-alone reverse harem book considering those romances generally span over several novels so this was a nice change.

That said, the character development was lacking and as well as a measure of slow burn. I honestly think this could have been solved with just a little additional length and pages instead of an additional novel.

The writing is pretty good, and the story concept itself makes sense. I wasn't impressed with this book, but I never got bored and read through it quickly.

It was a fun, lighter hockey romance! I enjoyed the characters and the storyline. It was a single parent novel, so be aware of that if you don't like that dynamic.
