Three months after losing both of her parents in a car accident, twenty-four year old Nova Stone doesn’t expect for her life to implode even further, but a knock on her front door changes everything. She goes from believing her parents were happily married, to learning that not only was her father unfaithful but that he fathered a child, and that she’s the only living relative of an orphaned six week old little boy.
The decision to apply for guardianship is a no brainer and should be easy given her being the only family he has, but things go sideways when her half-brother’s uncles (two famous NHL players and a billionaire businessman) throw their names in the ring. They’re willing to do anything to get Huey, even offer Nova millions of dollars, but she refuses to be bought.
Nova agrees to parent Huey with the three men, opting to uproot her life to move to Michigan and moving in their mansion, but none of them expect the pull they have towards each other and an unconventional relationship forms. Their love story is not an easy one—their relationship becomes tabloid fodder, careers are put at stake, and an obsessive and malicious stalker is revealed.
Sticks and Stone was not at all what I expected it to be, but I loved Nova, River, Rigby, Devan, and little baby Huey so much!

A romance featuring two hockey players and a bazillionaire? Yes, please.
I love that this is a story about creating a family: abandoned people coming together to form a bond through love and friendship. A sweet (and hot) book.

emotional
I know I would have liked it more if the author gave the beginning a couple more chapters before we got to the premise of the book. I just felt like the beginning was rushed and it didn't give me time to connect with the characters like I would have if it was a tid bit longer in the beginning. I didn't hate this book though. I did enjoy the characters once I got further into the story. The men blended together a bit at the beginning and I had to re-read a few parts, but otherwise it was a pretty good RH. I did like how protective everyone was of each other.
