 Quando seu visto de estudante está perto de terminar, Cleo conhece Frank, vinte anos mais velho, com uma vida cheia de sucesso e todos os excessos que faltam a Cleo. Ele lhe dá a oportunidade de ser feliz, liberdade de pintar e se candidatar a um visto de residente. Ela lhe oferece uma vida de beleza, arte e talvez reduza o seu consumo de álcool.

Após se casarem impulsivamente, eles começam a lidar com as provações do casamento e da doença mental.

Ganhei este livro do meu namorado como uma surpresa após ter favoritado ele por ficar curiosa com a descrição.

Quando acabei o livro, fiquei aliviada, foi uma jornada intensa que eles tiveram, além de ser bem dolorosa. 

Adorei a escrita do Coco, ela tem uma forma de fazer você ficar grudado nas páginas rindo em um capítulo e após jogar o livro em um momento intenso de dor.

Este livro aborda o amor romântico, mas me pareceu mais abrangente ao demonstrar que, se não houver amor e lidar com os próprios problemas internos, um relacionamento pode se tornar um círculo vicioso de grande destruição.

O cenário de Nova York é importante para os personagens pelos ciclos que estão envolvidos, com a maioria interagindo com álcool e drogas com uma frequência preocupante.

Por isso, vemos muito o livro explorar o tema de vícios e destruição que pode acontecer quando você se desconecta. Gostei da resolução que a autora deu, os personagens continuam no meio da jornada, mas temos esperança.

Espero que, se você leu minha resenha, que tenha o desejo de ler esse livro. Recomendo para quem gosta de livros sobre o desenvolvimento psicológico dos personagens.

Easily my favorite book. The novel is heartbreaking and beautiful. It details, in brutal honesty, what the reality of living within a toxic relationship looks like from every point of view in a person’s life. Mellors is an author with a deep understanding of the human condition. Cleopatra and Frankenstein explores the importance of grief, sympathy, endurance, optimism, compassion, honesty, sobriety, sex, self worth, therapy, art, and love both platonic and romantic.

This book shows the poignant complexity of relationships. How one relationship can affect one's relationship with other people. Cleo was so young and she deserves people to love her, understand her, and look after her. I am so glad to witness her healing in the latter pages of the book. As for Frank, I still hate him for what he did to Jesus. I also hate how he couldn't give what Cleo asked of her, yet she gave it to Eleanor easily. Overall, I love this book and I am looking forward to reading Blue Sisters.
