Worth a reread. Hit me hard. I'm glad that Cleo was separated/distanced from
Quentin, he was careening downward and I wanted her to be saved. Sucks that the guy who validated Quentin's gender feelings also got him onto CRYSTAL METH, JFC.
As I was writing down quotes, it occurred to me that the only sane main character (except for Santiago, bless him, and maybe Zoe) lived outside of New York, in Jersey. I think that means something. Also loved that
Frank and Eleanor got together in a sane and respectful way, and that it indeed felt GROUNDING. Huge plus for the vibes. Also loved that Cleo made an installation piece out of her suicide attempt. I feel for her. And she got back on antidepressants and found a good therapist, which is a HUGE win!

Liked the story and the depth the characters displayed but would have preferred fewer characters. Some seemed unnecessary

I struggled to start this book but once I was in it I couldn't put it down. I loved how everyone's story's intertwined and revolved around cleo and Frank and the starling metaphor at the end just bought it all together. This book is just amazing I could talk about it forever

Hmm. I thought this was an immediate 5 stars from that first chapter, it had me fully invested and intrigued. I was surprised how it switched up and gave us multiple pov’s and really focused on showing that chain reaction from the ppl close to us getting into relationships, meeting new ppl, etc. Once I got used to it, I thought it was really well done and such an interesting choice. Different from what I expected, but in the end it really came together imo. And most of all it’s a book about healing.

(I’ve had my own version of a Quentin as well as a Peter and Miriam …)

I thought it was beautifully written and I would not usually pick up a book about drug use/addiction.

I thought it was a beautiful piece on age gaps, desperation and the despair in addiction and falling apart.
