This book was such an intriguing read. The characters were enjoyable and the story itself had twists and turns that kept me enthralled! I would definitely read this again.
If I could go back I would do more digging to confirm this is the second book in the Stephanie King series. It didn't really have much reference to the first book but there was something that kept being brought up and for curiosity sake, it would have been nice to read the other first but it was not necessary.

The suspense was so intense! The directions this book were so unexpected, I never knew what dramatic twist or act would take place next.
I loved the unhinged murder game - it was so out of place and felt so wrong it really suited the direction. So many shocking and heartbreaking things happened to most of the characters I really felt I could empathise with all the women.
It was a very gaslighty feel to the whole book

Suspenseful
This book kept me on my toes. It had some good twists to it. It was like a deranged murder mystery with lots of secrets.

I really enjoyed this book. The first half I didn’t want to put it down. The second half lost some of the steam, but it was still a really good read.
Wow, what an incredible ride this story was. I have not read a novel by Rachel Abbott before today. But now I can't wait to get my hands on the next.
The Invitation is a psychological thriller that I couldn't put down. I thought the opening chapters were a tad slow but absolutely necessary to set up all the background info to make the suspense and mystery work later.
The story is told from the perspective of several characters, proving that people remember entirely different things from the same scene. The entire story revolves around secrets, ones that should have been kept, and many that would have changed lives if they had found their way into the open.
Other than the tiny problem I have with switching perspectives without a clue in a new chapter, the book flows well while building to the big twist at the finish. The Invitation is nicely edited, and I found no typos or grammatical errors.
Overall, I highly recommend The Invitation to lovers of mystery, suspense, and thrillers. If you want to be entertained by a contemporary fiction novel, this is the book for you. It kept me turning page after page while I read late into the night.
Thank you to Rachel Abbott, Bookouture, and Netgalley for the chance to review this story. The above thoughts are my honest, unbiased opinion.
