This was an interesting read. I really liked how it developed. Serial killers come in all shapes and sizes.

Will Trent shows up in Atlanta, Georgia when a case of a murdered woman has similarity to a few cases he has been working on. Paired with Michael Ormewood a cop who is watching carefully everything Will does.

John Shelley was sentenced twenty years ago for a murder of a girl he went to school with.  He has not talked about what happened in all that time and now he is out.  He finds a friend of sorts with undercover officer Angie Polaski, she knows of the case Will is working on and she knows John is holding secrets.  Who will figure out the truth about what is happening to the woman who are dying and will it be too late for the next victim?

Mind blowing, so many tangled webs that intersect in this book.  You think the story is going one way in the book and it takes a huge turn.  I was completely captivated with this book, couldn't put it down.

Enjoyed part 1, could not get into part 2 at all.

I could’ve done without the racial stereotypes and graphic violence.

I loved this book and the introduction to Will Trent! I’ve read a handful of the books in the series but in random order.

It look me a while to put some pieces together but once I did it was fantastic.

Only giving this one 4.75 stars just instead of 5 because of some word usage that I just hate (r word, n word) but I kept in mind that this was from 2006.

Another little fun tidbit is this audiobook was originally published on “disks” so every so often it says “end of disk 1/disk 2” etc. as it goes along. Quite amusing.

Angie really irks my nerves. She’s such a bitch to Will because he knows her past. He deserves SO MUCH BETTER. Their attachment breaks my heart. You want to like Angie, and maybe some people will by the end, but i still don’t. Ride or die for Will Trent 🫡

This story was pretty dark and so interesting! It was a nice surprise to have a couple diff “POVs” as it added another level of complexity and emotion to the book.

A good friend recommended this series to me, after we both liked the TV series. He warned me that it was brutal, and he wasn't wrong. The subject matter is pretty...raw, and blunt, but well done.

I am looking forward to reading more in the series. Because the writing is gripping.
