A sham medium/con-lady gets hired to perform an exorcism on a farm run by a hot, young, skeptic. When it turns out that there actually IS a ghost on the farm, antics ensue.

fluffy vacation read— one of those that’s basically just vibes and if you look too closely at the plot or character motivations it takes away from the vibe-based experience. not upset that i read it during my dorian gray induced slump but wouldn’t seriously recommend it either (I think I need to re-evaluate my personal rating system because there’s so much variance in my 3 star reads lol)

I loved this book, I keep wishing I could go back to the farm!!
It’s been weeks since I read it and felt I just had to come say my piece- the main sex scene in this book felt so weird. Im not a huge fan of spice levels like this in the first place, but I just think the author went “how do I make sure this sex has to happen” and then was like
oh yeah she’ll just confess to everything in between his pounds.
I get how it was related to the development of their relationship and the way he sees her, but every time I think about it, it just doesn’t make sense to me.

This book was really cute. I was pleasantly surprised. I liked the overall concept. But why didn’t Gretchen question our lil ghostly friend the terms and conditions of the curse. That would’ve been my first question was to how to break it. She just didn’t ask the right questions but I think other than that, the plot was well executed, the relationships were thought out, and there was actually chemistry.

this was actually so cute and perfect for fall. I was not expecting to like this much, but I laughed and I cried. So recommend if you want a light-hearted rom-com for October!

Quirky, funny, heartwarming read.

Good plot and the character had good developement through out the story.

The friendship between Everett and Gretchen was so much fun. The romance built between Charlie and Gretchen was well done, bit angsty but sweet and steamy as well.

2.5 stars but not rounding up. Looking for a cute cozy romance with a bit of paranormal this seemed to fit the bill. Honestly it should have but fell flat. We are following, Gretchen,a fake medium who hustles people out of money. She isnt like all those other scammers because she follows a specific rule: only work with those that she can help. When her best client asks her to perform an exorciism on her bridge partners farm, the money is to good to pass by. She is shocked when she arrives and Charles isnt the 80 year she had imagined him to be. Unfortunately for her Charles instantly knows she is a fraud and wants nothing to do with. As she is waiting for uber tho ugh she is shocked with the ghost haunting the property appears in front of her. Now she really is a medium and has to convince Charles to allow her to help him to fight the curse that is on the family. The two main issues with this is that it is entirely to long. There is no reason that is almost 400 pages and should have been 100 pages shorter. This would have made the book much more enjoyable. The second problem for me is that while I liked Charles I was indifferent to Gretchen. She is presented as a fraudster with a golden heart but I did not buy it. There were to many instances where she would have contrasting throughts or not follow through with what she said she would do. I am not sure why the author put all of that in the book, pick one thing is she a good person or not?
