Phantom of the opera retelling, sign me up!
I really enjoyed the book, I unfortunately just had too many issues with some of the story/characters to rate it higher personally. However this book still made me emotional and I greatly enjoyed it!

This book was unlike anything I’ve ever read before, it captivated me right from the start, the world and storyline so interesting and different. With fantasy, I’m so used to being in the mind of a beautiful, extraordinary hero who is mostly on the good side of the morality spectrum, but Isda isn’t like that. While she has a good side, there’s also so much darkness, she craves power and chaos, and is selfish, and as she likes to call herself, is a bit of a monster.
What really shook me though was the last part of the book, it flipped completely on it’s head and transformed into a whole different feeling, something I was not expecting at all, but I loved it.

Just a warning though, if you like happy endings, do not read.

would have preferred a villain origin story but the ending was tragic enough, I guess

I wasn't vibing this. The world building was sparse, the romance too insta-lovey and the dialogue was quite YA.

Loved the story, hated the ending. I understand the choice, but it wasn’t what I would have chosen.

Enchanting and easily able to make itself something more than words and pages, the book is something a bit more desperate and ravenous. Beholding everything through Isda, and clinging to every moment with Emeric right along with her, everything spirals into more and more as if Isda is right there with us, dragging us along with her as the book races itself through every moment.
Unlike most, the ending isn't always so happily ever after, the book allows itself to shut as properly as any story, and gives a new light to something as real as closure.

This was a fun book that loops music with memories in a tangible way. Isda is hidden away for her whole life and is slightly okay with that until she meets Emeric. After this meeting Isda pushes her boundaries more than ever to find how she wants to live her life.
