Cover

Wertung (5/5)

This is the third time I have read this book. It's my favourite book ever and Paige Toon is my favourite chic-lit author. The first couple of times I read this I didn't write reviews and with it being my favourite book I thought I would re-read it and so now I'm writing the review for it.

I love this book, I love everything about this book and it's a book I can re-read over and over again and never get bored because it's such an amazing love story. It was one of the first books I read and it's the book that made me love reading and got me interested in reading. Though I have found a love for Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy books Chic-lit will always be my favourite genre of books.

Lucy is on a flight to Australia to her best friends wedding when she gets a text from her boyfriend of three years phone wrote by someone else telling of his infidelity. Lucy is distraught and heartbroken that he would do this to her. When he tells her that it was a drunken joke from his friends Lucy decides to believe him but still has her doubts. Then she gets re-aquinted with Nathan, her best friends younger brother and instantly feels things towards him she has never felt before, not even with James. Suddenly she is torn between two guys, James, who may or may not be cheating on her or Nathan, the guy she has fallen in love with but doesn't know what to do about it.

I love everything about this book. It's my favourite chic lit book and I can't say a bad word about it. It's amazing. I love Nathan, he was the first fictional guy I ever fell in love with and no matter how many books I read and how many more fictional guys I fall in love with I don't think anyone can compare to Nathan, my first fictional love.
He is just sweet and adorable and all the way through the book I found myself saying just leave James and be with Nathan. I never really believed that he hadn't cheated on her and it took all my will power to not look in the back of the book and see who she ended up with.

If you are a sucker for a love story and love romance books then this is definitely a book for you. Paige Toon proves herself to be a great chic lit author and I love re-reading her books because they are just so good.

An easy read, though the ending seems a little too simple for all the earlier trouble

I had high hopes for this book as I am generally a big fan of chick-lits and love the likes of Sophie Kinsella but wow this book was a chore to get through. Within the first chapter I had already decided I hated the protagonist, Lucy, who is portrayed as whiny, rude and selfish just in this chapter alone, let alone the whole book. I don't think I've ever read a book with a main character so unlikeable, it made the book so hard to get through as I just didn't root for her at all!

The whole book basically consists of her going back and forth between her boyfriend of four years and a guy she met a few times in a week, and it gets so tedious and boring you're just willing her to choose already and be done with it, it's so obvious she isn't happy with her boyfriend (and never has been), but still she spends the entire book deciding whether it is worth staying with him. Just leave him if you aren't happy! She seems so dependable on being in a relationship and it just gets irritating.

Other than this love triangle, which is actually just Lucy trying to choose between the two of them in her own thoughts for the majority of the book, there is no real plot, the only thing getting me through was maybe there's a good ending. There isn't. I'm so disappointed as I was told many great things about Paige Toon, and this is the first book I've read of hers! If anyone has any suggestions of a better book of hers please let me know as I would love to give her another chance!

This was my first ever Paige Toon book and it certainly won’t be the last. It was exactly the book I needed at this point to get me out of my reading slump!

Lucy is such a nice character and so easy to get to know – I loved her! Not only that but I felt that I was so invested in her story that I really could not put the book down. You begin the story by meeting Lucy as she boards her flight to Sydney for her best friend’s wedding. However, throughout the book you get to hear about so many of Lucy’s childhood memories, from Lucy herself, to give the reader a better connection with her character. I thought this was so clever and important as part of the storyline itself, it made me feel as though Lucy was becoming my friend and she was relaying her experiences.

Nathan was the dreamboat in the story – he was perfect in every way. The picture perfect surfer guy with the charms that every girl wants. Through the book, I loved how he continued to make Lucy smile through his little jokes. Even when he wasn’t sure of the situation they were in, he still kept Lucy smiling.

Finally, I thought James was an ass the whole way through. I hated him – which was probably Paige’s intention for readers to feel. I was always certain he had cheated on Lucy and my mind was made up on who I preferred!

It’s a brilliant book – I wanted to know the answers as quickly as I could so continued reading but at the same time never wanted it to end.

Aw, first book of 2016 under my belt. I really enjoyed this book. I loved the relationships, both platonic and intimate. They were refreshing and exciting. I cared deeply about Lucy's relationship with her friends and lovers, they complimented each other excellently. I must say,Paige had me questioning my initial thoughts about Lucy but I was extremely happy and pleased about how it concluded. I would definitely recommend this book, its a wonderful fast read that had me on the edge of my seat throughout. No matter how old you are, its never too late to find yourself and follow your dreams. 5/5 Stars.*****
