Snappy and Irreverent space opera. Rig is a smuggler/freedom fighter with a haunted past. When the mysterious Ginka unexpectedly joins her on a job, spies and secret police start chasing them. Rig scrambles to protect her new maybe friend, as well as the people she cares about—Her girlfriend (who is a kickass librarian) and her sister—and her own secrets.
Very tropey yet does not have any love triangles.

Listen, this was supposed to be fun. It was marketed as fun. If I wanted cults, religious trauma, forced drug addiction and amputation I would not have picked up the "lesbian gunslinger fights spies in space" book. It's also marketed as adult and it reads like young adult, both on the romance side of it and for its lack of depth exploring the religious trauma. You get to the end of the book and there has been barely any character development on that front. Very idealistic,

DID NOT FINISH: 34%

Unfortunately, I couldn't really get into the story. I've paused this book for months now and I doubt I will be finishing it anytime soon.
fast-paced

This was a high-octane sci-fi novel set in a world where three factions are at war, because their gods commanded it (allegedly). The story follows a fugitive—excommunicated from their faction—who are relentlessly pursued by the powers that be for some data they've stolen. The narrative is a wild ride, packed with familiar tropes and a distinctly cinematic approach.

However, I prefer my adventures to delve deeper into certain themes, and the plotting here felt off. The book seemed much longer than it actually was, and I found myself bored at times due to some of the choices made and the lack of emotional depth.
