Just when you think you’ve cracked the case, Alice Feeney pulls the rug right out from under you—and *His and Hers* is no exception.
One of Feeney's greatest talents is her ability to hook you from page one and keep you guessing until the very last word. Her knack for crafting deeply flawed, often unlikeable characters—ones you'd never want to meet in real life—is unmatched. And yet, you find yourself completely consumed by their tangled lives, desperate to see how it all plays out. Feeney also has this almost magical ability to make you embrace the wildest, most nonsensical plot twists, leaving you gleefully along for the ride. She doesn't just write books; she creates rollercoasters of intrigue and suspense that you won't want to get off.
*His and Hers* follows Anna, a BBC news presenter tasked with covering a local murder case that hits uncomfortably close to home. The lead detective? Her ex-husband, Jack. And the victim? Someone they both knew—intimately and in very different ways. Their tangled history complicates things further: Anna and Jack are still at odds after the heartbreaking loss of their child, and Jack keeps crossing personal boundaries to look after Anna’s mother, who suffers from dementia.
But the tension doesn’t stop there. When another victim is discovered, connections begin to surface—specifically to Anna’s own past and a traumatic event from her teenage years. What follows is a tense, gripping journey as Anna and Jack navigate their complicated history while trying to unravel the chilling mystery that threatens to upend everything they know.
That’s all I’m telling you. Trust me, the rest is a whirlwind, and you’ll want to savor every shocking twist and turn. Buckle up—it’s a doozy!

While I thought I had it all figured out, I was surprised by the ending. I did find it a little unbelievable though.
Audiobook performance: 4 stars
The book itself: 1 star
This started out so interestingly, I loved the performance and the alternating chapters, with occasional chapters from the antagonist added in, was a great format... but then it went downhill! The plot started to go all over the place and as a number of people have said in their reviews, the ending was a bit strange and pretty unrealistic. If you are a keen fan of this genre you may get more enjoyment from it, but this wasn't for me!
Also, for anyone intending to read this, there were a number of scenes describing violence against animals and sexual predation which I found unnecessarily detailed/descriptive and I almost abandoned the book a number of times for this reason. There definitely should have been some more clear trigger warnings at the top of the book description.

I really enjoyed this book! It was a real page turner and a bit messed up but it kept me guessing all the way till the end as to who the killer was!!! I really enjoyed the writing style and the story
I was enjoying this book, until the very end. The ending ruined it. I'm all for a twist, but this one just didn't work for me.
I think I’m going to go 3.75 with this one! I really did enjoy how the story unraveled and I appreciate the twists and turns. The ending was not one I predicted so I love it for that, but something about the writing wasn’t my favorite. I think I liked Daisy Darker a little more but still had a fun time with this one!
