⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I read a LOT of thrillers, and if a book can surprise me it is well worthy of 5 stars. I was constantly changing my mind on who the murderer was up until the very end. Everyone has a motive but who’s is the biggest?!

Also loved the format of this book. There are chapters from him, her, and the murderer. Alice Feeney will keep you on your toes.

FIVE star recommendation right here if you like suspense! Such a fast read and so hard to put down.

Enjoyed it ! Kept changing my mind on who i thought did it and the final twist was good! I did have suspicions on the mum! Could’ve been more dramatic reveal of the twist and was a bit confused at times but i enjoyed it.

Anna is alone in the world, 36yo, no husband and no kids, she’s a newsreader replacement for Cat, a mother of two who was gone on maternity leave from her job. Anna is starting to hate Cat, it’s easy to see why, she abuses one too many drinks and she is completely alone… Her mother is miles away and sadly she is struggling with dementia, sometimes remembering Anna is a blessing in itself.

But then a murdered Jane Doe comes to surface. And Anna is sent to the scene to catch the story, whilst Jack is there to catch a killer.

Our two extremely unreliable narrators were once married, omg this book is full of surprises and becomes better and better every time I pick it up! I really enjoy it, it’s such a good book, but I wouldn’t expect less from Alice Feeney anyway. This book got a hold on me, it’s perfect, perfect drama thriller for a cozy night in. Cracked the iced cold Coke Zero (do not recommend, highly addictive) and just got cozy with Anna and Jack.

Seriously, I wonder why I didn’t picked it up sooner because this book is insane, so good, so tragic and so fast paced it got my mind spinning.

Loved every bit of it.

Alice Feeney knows how to entertain an atmosphere of murder.

Smart.

Goed boek! Al snel dacht ik wel te weten wie de moordenaar was, maar wat zat ik er naast!
Nooit gedacht dat het de moeder was, die tevens doet alsof ze dementerend is. Hele goeie twist!

4 ⭐️. This is a very twisted thriller. I loved how it was told from different POV throughout the book and that I didn’t feel like I could trust either side. It made it hard to guess the ending. There is a scene that could use a trigger warning for SA though.

The ending is where I’m unsure how I feel. There are multiple twists and I didn’t see the finale at all. It just for a little confusing on what the truth was with how quick it was changing. It was a little hard to believe, too. I still enjoyed it overall.

This book was a great thriller with many twists and turns. It keeps you guessing throughout the book as you uncover more and more details about the past that links to the future. I really enjoyed it!

While perhaps my least favorite of Feeney’s works this far, I can chalk that up to simple pacing issues that anyone would have a difficult time editing away. This thing piles on the twists near the end at such a rapid frequency that you can almost feel the author performing linguistic acrobatics to prevent the reader from guessing how the very last chapter will read. Overall, she pulls it off, and it would be very silly of me to rate this anything less than five stars for such a minor flaw. Her stories are never anything less than sparkling.
