There are A LOT of dark and triggering themes in this and I think a lot of it is just for shock value. Very unsettling and left with unanswered questions. Still a suspenseful and interesting page-turner but wish there were less gimmicks.

Alice Feeny does it again. Only reason I’m giving 4 stars here instead of 5 is because I had a hard time getting into this one at the beginning but by the middle I was hooked.

Slow to get going, took about 100-150 pages before I was super interested. There were times I thought I would DNF, I’m glad I didn’t but it was still kinda just meh. There were many options for who could have done it, so I had sneaking suspicions on the true killer toward the last 1/3rd of the book and I was right. Satisfying to hear the “why” at the end of the book, but I was kind of underwhelmed by the beginning and the end. I’ll watch the Netflix series still though lol

I enjoyed the majority of the book but I struggle to even rate this 3 stars because of f how unrealistic the ending was. I hated it! If it wasn’t for the ending this would have been a solid 4. Even with a better twist I couldn’t rate it higher than that due to the relationship between Jack and his partner. So awkward!
