Holy crap! So good! Alice Feeney is one of my new favorites. Kept me guessing until the very end!

I haven't had a psychological thriller reroute me this many times in a long time. Hooked me from the start and didn't let up until the end. Spooky vibes throughout, great October read!

I don’t even know where to begin… Alice Feeney did it again! Her writing style and complexity of her characters is just so compelling and really drags you in. This story has so much going on with flashbacks, subplot, and overall plot — and it’s all done masterfully! I thought I knew what was happening several times, but the attention to detail and plot twists really made this such an unpredictable novel in the best way possible. After several audible gasps and many breathless moments, I’m sad that I’ve finished this book because it was so incredible.

4.5/5

Anna is a successful news anchor for the BBC but when Kat Jones returns from a two-year maternity leave, the news agency feels obligated to give Jones' her slot back, pushing Anna down the totem poll. Back in the field, Anna is sent to cover a murder that occurs in the quiet town of Blackdown.

The DC on the case, Jack Harper, is a little too connected to the murder victim for his liking. In fact, he slept with the woman last night. The crime scene becomes even more potentially dangerous for him when his tenacious ex-wife, Anna Andrews, shows up to cover the murder.

It becomes apparent that the murder in Blackdown is the work of a serial killer and at every step, Jack is looking more and more guilty.

Told from three different perspectives - Jack, Anna, and the killer - we gained different pieces of the story and learned a lot of the characters' histories. There were points in time where I was convinced that just about every character might be the killer.

The audio was fantastic. I loved the use of multiple narrators and the voice change machine for the killer. The narrators were easy to connect with and the level of theatrics was perfect.

All in all, this was a wild ride!! This book will surprise you and keep you on the edge of your seat. I absolutely recommend it!!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced listening copy.

Wow! What a book! Lots of twists and turns. Just when you think you have it figured out, oh no no you don’t.
Really good, edge of your seat read.

I’m leaving this review months after finishing the book, so I can confidently say it’s memorable. Some of the other books I’ve read this year I can’t say the same for, but this book has a captivating back and forth between the two perspectives and I enjoyed the twist at the end. I did figure out what it was but not until I was right up on it and flipped the page and turned out to be right. I’d definitely recommend this book to someone who is into more murder mystery tv shows like Castle or CSI or something alone those lines because I could totally vision this on ABC/ FX/ TNT while reading it.

**4.5/5**
An addictive book to listen to on audio. I did not guess the ending and was constantly surprised and proved wrong.

**Trigger warnings: rape, mentions of an infant's death, domestic violence, suicidal thoughts, alcohol abuse, bullying (and probably a few more I've forgotten about)

Audiobook #29

Wow! I did not see that twist coming! Really great read, 4 stars because it was a bit unbelievable how it all played out.
