What an absolute banger to kick off the year with! His & Hers by Alice Feeney was my first read of the year, and I couldn’t have chosen a better book to start with. This psychological thriller completely blew me away with its clever plotting, dynamic storytelling, and jaw-dropping twists that I never saw coming.

The story is told from two perspectives: Anna, a BBC news presenter, and Jack, a detective, both of whom are connected to a murder in ways that only unravel as the plot thickens. Feeney expertly weaves their narratives together, creating a tangled web of lies, secrets, and betrayals that kept me guessing until the very end. Just when I thought I had figured everything out, BAM—another twist would hit me like a freight train.

One of the things I loved most about this book was how unreliable both narrators were. It made the story so much more gripping because you don’t know who to trust or what to believe. The tension builds perfectly with every chapter, and the final revelations were so satisfying yet completely unpredictable. Feeney’s ability to misdirect the reader while dropping subtle hints along the way is nothing short of brilliant.

The atmospheric setting of the small English village added an extra layer of creepiness to the story, making it even more immersive. And let’s not forget the writing itself—sharp, engaging, and laced with just the right amount of dark humor to break the tension at times.

If you’re a fan of thrillers with complex characters, mind-bending twists, and a story that will keep you up all night, His & Hers is a must-read. It’s the kind of book that stays with you long after you’ve turned the last page, and it’s certainly set the bar high for the rest of my reading year. Alice Feeney, you’ve officially earned a spot on my “auto-buy author” list!

That was a wild ride. A couple of (work) nights staying up well past one AM. When I finished, I had to go back through to revisit the clues I had missed.

A true who done it!!! Just when I thought I had it! Absolutely suspension and beautiful character building with some skeletons in the closet!!!

“We all have secrets, some we won’t even tell ourselves.” - His & Hers by Alice Feeney

Premise: Anna Andrews goes from being a news anchor to a news correspondent. She pretty much gets demoted because she was filling in for news anchor, Cat Jones, while she was on maternity leave for *two years* (therefore Anna thought that the promotion was permanent). Anyway, once getting “demoted”, Anna starts covering a story of a serial killer from her hometown… this is a whodunnit with so many twists and turns you won’t remember which way the entrance is.

My review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I don’t know how I feel about the ending, but I don’t want to say too much and give anything away. I just don’t know if it’s fully believable. This book is definitely a “thriller” it kept me on the edge of my seat trying to read as fast as I could so that I could find out what was going to happen next. I’m not giving this book 5⭐️ because 1) I don’t know how I feel about the ending 2) EVERY OTHER PARAGRAPH WAS A “QUOTABLE” PHRASE.

I don’t like when authors write to be quoted. Why not just write a story and if a good quote falls out - or it’s even strategically placed - then yay! Wonderful! But when I have to get past the “quotes” to get to the story of the book, it annoys me.

With that being said, this book still gets 4⭐️ from me because it was a fun rollercoaster ride of emotions & “what happens next?”.

This was the first Alice Feeney book for me and it did not disappoint. I finished it in 2 days (review is a bit late). Aside from some obvious questions that I had in the beginning, the suspenseful and thrilling storyline plus the shocking and surprising twists made me give it a total thumbs up

Mystery/Thriller Story: 5/5
Gay Representation: 0/5 (Problematic at best).

Thrillers and mysteries are my jam, my go-to and this book didn't disappoint for the murder mystery element. The ending was a shock to me, the dementia felt very real + the unreliable narrators are brilliantly written. And let's not forget that the killers voice in the audiobook, CREEPY AF

This is my 3rd Alice Feeney book, and having started with her 2 newer books, I kept thinking, where's the big twist?! Well it FINALLY came in the last 8 pages! I definitely feel spoiled by the previous Feeney books I've read.
Either way, this book was still enjoyable but I can definitely see Feeney's growth as a writer having just finished Daisy Darker.
Daisy Darker SLAPS while His & Hers just kinda gives you a light tap, ya know?

i wanted to give it four but it def would have been five if i hadn’t spoiled it for myself
