It is a suspense thriller which is being told by two point of views.

Ana is a tv presenter, when is to asked to cover a murder that happened in a small town outside of London, she goes if only to keep her job. The plot thickens when she discovers that she knew the victim.

Jack is a detective, he lives in the town, but not by choice.
When a body is discovered in the woods he decided to keep the fact that he knew the victim a secret. When the evidence starts pointing at him he is more determined than ever to uncover the mystery.

This is one of those book where you think everyone and no one is responsible at the same time. The ending was so unexpected, I was suprised in the best way.

I did figure out some of the twists but others remained a mystery until the very end. It was incredibly unpredictable and had me guessing until the last page.
It was very well written, with lots of drama without being tiring.

I read this book in one sitting, if that doesn't say it all I don't know what does.

This book was twisted af. Creepy teenage girls being naughty just makes me wonder if I should lock my daughter up now or wait a few years. The book just got more and more screwed up as the story moved along. My prediction for the murderer was very very wrong. The audio is pretty cool bc the murderer voice is uber eerie. Fast read!

This book was somewhat tedious for me to get through. Something quite interesting would happen and then I'd be thrown into boredom via our narrators sometimes lackluster voices. It's hard to like these characters when all we know of them is that they're liars with faulty memories and a lot of various baggage. This, and all of the coincidences borne of it, doesn't entirely work for me because my memory, at least in the midst of a book such as this, is quite good and hones in on every little detail.

In this book, everyone knows things that only the killer should know. Everyone has motive. Everyone has keys they shouldn't. Everyone has phones that aren't theirs. Everyone has trouble sleeping. Everyone finds themselves at crime scenes just when the crimes occur. Everyone acts skittish and suspicious. Everyone hates this town but won't just leave already.

As more details are revealed, unlikeable characters become even less likeable. There are some very gruesome scenes here that seem to exist simply to shock and disturb. Needless cruelty abounds. None of the heaviest subjects get their due treatment which hollows things.

As I read, I actually kept a little list of potential murderers by likelihood and my number 1 pick was correct. I thought this person's involvement was very obvious, if not also very unlikely, but it seems as though it worked for most people and seemed to come out of the blue for them. I would've been disappointed if the key detail I latched onto really did amount to nothing as that would simply indicate poor writing.

My favorite parts of this book were the interactions between the exes, which probably says more about me and my tastes than how well they were depicted. In any case, I'm a sucker for relationships in all of their iterations and I enjoyed seeing the love and fear and safety and concern these two grappled with. I would've liked to see more, but they made the most sense to me out of all of the various relationships here.

Ultimately, this is written well, it's plenty entertaining, and most people seem to enjoy it more than I did. This is the 11th thriller I've read in just over 3 months so perhaps I need a break so things can appear fresh to me again. In any case, I think most people will enjoy this, but beware that there are triggering subjects here and the twists may not be twisty enough for you.
