Received in a StoryGraph giveaway.

I'll admit, this book wasn't quite what I expected when I entered in the giveaway. It has a steady stream of "rich people behaving badly," and dysfunctional family out the wazoo. I did find the front-to-back timeline an interesting approach, though, as well as the way each chapter functioned as a short story with connecting threads. I think I would have liked it more if there had been more material, though, because my opinion of the children was pretty low by the time we got to the end of it. The narrative showed us just enough to make it easier to dislike than it was to redeem them, though it was easier to like the parents and appreciate their struggles.

DID NOT FINISH: 53%

I listened to the audiobook but I just couldn’t get into the way the narrator was reading the story. I also couldn’t find any character I enjoyed or connected with. The concept was interesting but it just wasn’t my cup of tea.

Captivating storytelling that organically builds despite the unique timeline

Basically read this book in two sittings -  couldn’t put it down. Felt like there was more I wanted to know, since each chapter was a vignette of a family - father, mother, grandmother, and three daughters- and their staff (their driver, their nanny) going backwards in time over the decades, and the endings felt abrupt sometimes! Loved how each chapter alternated narration between the characters’ POVs.
