Oh my goodness this book was so good! Since it is a “standalone sequel” you could *technically* not read the first book and still understand whats going on but if you want the background of the characters then for sure read The Family Upstairs first. I could not put this book down, I was so invested in these stories and wanted to know how they all turn out in the end. Am I the only one who wasn’t rooting for the detective? Anywho, such a good book, highly recommend both books!

CW: Domestic abuse both sexual and emotional. Really tough to read.
I just don't see how this sequel was necessary. I loved the way the first one wrapped up with some mystery, leaving the reader's imagination to fill in the gaps. This was slow and boring. Way too many characters and trivial events that I couldn't really care about.
