3.5⭐️ rounded up. Audiobook was cool because there were different voices for the main characters, but there are like 20 people you have to keep track of. I had to write down the list of characters, their relationships, and the plot points for the first 1/3 of the book before I felt confident enough to just listen and enjoy (after restarting once). Even then, I would need to refer back to names every so often. And the stupid dog…why was he mentioned so many times?! I kept getting him mixed up as a person since they kept referring to him by name.
The storyline was familiar to me, as I had read The Family Upstairs…but I didn’t put that together until I was almost finished reading. It might have been good to re-read that book before picking this up.
Overall, it was good and the writing kept me interested.

I didn't love The Family Upstairs. I thought it was pretty creepy and too culty for me. But I

The first 3/4 of the book was so good I couldn’t put it down. The ending was just anticlimactic for me. Most of the story was so good, but it seemed like the end was just like ok let’s wrap this all up and give everyone a happy ending

I was so excited to read this after the first novel but God, it was just so dull and so unneeded. It was written well but the story just didn’t really move anywhere and there was nothing really gripping that happened
I hope Lisa Jewel’s next novel is better as I’m am an avid fan and the last two just haven’t hit the mark!
