Definitely fun and made me regret even more growing up in the tedious NJ suburbs.

I absolutely love a well-told story. This was not that.

The chapter about crosswords was incredible

Everyone has those things they like in a way that no one they know does. It makes those things more special that it is "just yours." For some reason one of those things for me is Shopsin's. I love the documentary "I Like Killing Flies" about Kenny, and have seen it more times than you would think someone should watch a documentary about a Dinner and its proprietor. I started my love of cooking with the Shopsin's book "Eat Me" making many of the recipes from it as well as reading it cover to cover. I still use these recipes to the point where several of them are now just in my head. There are at least 5 2 cup containers of the Marinara Sauce sitting in my freezer now. Reading Tamara Shopsin's memoir was a great addition to one of my little personal obsessions. Making a place I love, but have had very little opportunity to visit, a more three demential place in my head.

A book that makes you nostalgic for a time and place you never experienced.

This book seemed to be written in spurts. One page didn’t necessarily follow the last, which was jarring. I found it overall fun to read, a little glimpse of a little part of New York.

Nonfiction is lame lol

Meandering and digressive but I could barely put it down.
