Geez, I couldn't wait for this to be over. 220 pages of nothing is essentially what I just wasted my time on. What a load of drivel. Only saving grace was I got it from the library or Lord would I be mad.

There were parts of this novel that were exceptional. I loved the 'Keeper of...' idea and that the boys could survive. I was confused by the 'bird' talk.
I'll be honest here folks. When I got Where the World Ends in my BOTM box forever ago, I was really excited to dive into it. After reading the synopsis, I thought that this would be a unique survival kind of adventure in a place I've never been - Scotland! So it's definitely bittersweet to be completely disappointed by everything that I read today.
It's probably a huge "it's me, not you" situation. I tried to find something likable but I just couldn't. There were times where I kept catching myself zoning in and out while reading the book. So I decided to try the audiobook just to switch things up. I was definitely hoping this would help me zero in my attention to what was happening but nope - I kept zoning in and out once again.
Today just wasn't the day for me. Well, with this particular book. I'm hoping the next one will get me out of this weird funk but who knows. I'm also not giving up on this book completely either. I'll definitely dive back into this world later in life and see if my opinion on anything or everything will be different. Maybe on a nice weekend with zero plans just so I can give this my full attention.

Another stunning book from this author. This is based on a true story. Set on a remote Hebridean Island it tells the story of a party of men and boys who go off to one of the stacks to collect enough bird meat for the coming winter this three week trip is something of a coming of age ceremony too. But when after three weeks nobody comes to bring them back, then three weeks stretches into four - the party begin to wonder if they will ever go home again. An incredible story of survival in an inhospitable environment. Brilliantly written and realised- a must read
Apparently, I just glanced at the cover and saw what I wanted to see - a big hulking shape like a monster from “Where the Wild Things Are” and assumed the inside matched the image I had in my head.
I didn’t even read the summary.
I got something different than I expected. A recounting of a true event that was harrowing and scary and something that feels too real to be true.
I’m so glad i read this.
