This a large collection of Gaiman's shortstories with some excerpts from his longer novels thrown in there. There is a little something for everybody and it's all fantastic.

You sir, Neil, are a treasure. I’m so thankful you allowed your readers to follow along on your journey. Your early writings were wonderful, but your elegance in writing and in story telling has grown dramatically!

Thank you for sharing your brain

Neil Gaiman’s latest book, The Neil Gaiman Reader: Selected Fiction, is perfect for Neil Gaiman fans! It’s also a great first book to pick up for readers who never read his work, but are interested in reading fantasy and don’t know where to start. It’s amazing to see how his writing has changed through the years and that he truly can write anything from happy to shivers up your spine type stories. Though the book may seem intimidating by size, don’t let that stop you! There are quite a few stories in here are truly gems. I highly recommend picking this one up regardless of what you read. You won’t regret it!

Disclaimer: I received a finished copy of this book from William Morrow in exchange for my honest opinion. This has no effect on my opinion, review, or rating.

An outstanding selection of Neil Gaiman's work. This is a great place to start if you've never read Gaiman. It's a wonderful bunch of friends to revisit if you're an old fan, too. If I could give this book higher than a 5 star rating, I would!

If you’re a Gaiman fan, you need to read these stories. If you’re not a Gaiman fan, sit down, choose a story at random and become a Gaiman fan. This is an almost perfect collection of his work to date.

If you sit and read this cover-to-cover, it’s fascinating to see his style grow, adapt and develop with time. However, each piece is so wonderfully self-contained that I know I will find myself sitting down at various points in the future to pick out random stories to re-read. There’s quirky, amusing 2-pagers, there’s deeply emotional, hard-hitting drama, and there’s everything in between. I will treasure this collection for a long time.
