I think the Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath is an excelent story, at the beggining i may feel strange for a lot of Lovecraftians, but I think Lovecraft was a grate narrator, and that means he could write excelent tales and not only horror tales.
This was way too long and is a good example of how Lovecraft can waffle on if allowed the word count. This story features a goddam army of cats so I'm a bit annoyed I got so bored throughout the majority of the story. I contrast this to At the Mountains of Madness which had me hooked on every turn of the page. I'm not sure what the difference was but this story - despite the awesome army of cats - was only okay.
I can see why Lovecraft didn't publish this one and called it a practice run.
A good story but way too long with no chapter breaks. It was a tough read.

This book never really grabbed me unfortunately. I think it's one of his more uneven novellas. I would sooner recommend "The Case of Charles Dexter Ward" or "At the Mountains of Madness" as stronger and more engaging works overall.
This was a collection of some of his less horrific, more fantastical stories. I really liked some of the shorter ones, and he definitely had some great ideas, but I'm not a fan of his style. It turned into a chore when I was reading anything longer than 10 pages. I'd like to read some of his short horror, but not for a while.
