It's a pretty bold choice to have your main character die at the very beginning of a series, but luckily there are hardly any stakes in DBZ as people can just get wished back to life, phew. This volume consists almost entirely of Goku running somewhere, people shouting out meaningless power levels and Gohan having a Bad Time (could really be any volume in this series to be fair!) - so fun. Goku running along the dragon road is one of the things I most remember from watching the anime about 15 years ago. Mr Popo's character design is rough though, oof.

The story flows so well, you know what is happening and the little narration right at the start and end of each chapters is just like the series "previously on dragon ball" "next time on dragonball"

I didnt realise alot of what was in dragon ball z was fillers, like these two volumes have cut so much out the anime already (not that it's it's bad thing, just I never noticed)

Well...that was a strange wish...all that work, and that was the wish...? Well, I'll keep going with the series and see what happens.
The continuing tale of Son Goku volume 2 concluded the first chapter of the Dragon Ball saga with the first conjuring of the Great Dragon. The story ends with Goku going off to Master Roshi for further training leaving me looking mournfully at online stores and contemplating the cost to get the rest of the series.
