For a novella it had all the suspense and character development from the full blown books... still wish it was longer... Love these books
This mini-story gives us something we haven't yet seen in the In Death series: a killer Eve has already locked away, escaped and bent on continuing his work, but with the people who put him away (chief of which is Eve) on his hit list.
The story gives us a deeper look into Eve's loyalties and family, and glimpses of what she was like in the past, and how she deals with it all.

I enjoyed this novella. I thought the story was set up well given the book was only 90 pages. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Very compact but surprisingly complete story. It felt very much like a full novel instead of a novella.
Only the ending seemed a tiny bit rushed, I didn't immediately understand what had happened.

Not a fan of novellas - I wish this had been developed into a full novel. I like Dr. Mira and appreciate her care and interest in Eve.
A little christmas investigation to disturbe the perfect holiday of Eve and Roarke. I particularly liked the fact it was an alod case and Eve was well aware of the reasons behind the murder.
Best part as always is how Roarke protect Eve and makes her takes care of herself when she forgets about the normal things in life, like sleep and eat.
Sweet chrsitmas novella.

Around the Year Reading Challenge Item #24: A "Between-the-Numbers" book of a series
This was pretty much what you'd come to expect in a J.D. Robb book, except shorter. There is no who-dun-it because Eve knows who the killer is -- an escaped convict that she put behind bars three years ago. The tension instead comes from the fact that Eve as well as a close friend are both on his "hit list" and she must find him before he kills the others on the list and without losing her own life.
The book was fine -- prose, pacing, plot pretty much on par with the full-length novels. I was annoyed that a book so short still had to waste pages on sex scenes that did nothing to advance plot or character, but mostly I rated this book three stars because it followed the J.D. Robb formula TOO well. I was hoping the shorter form might give her the opportunity to try something a little different, but this is just a miniature version of what she's been doing all along.
