Maybe my rating system is flawed but I adored this!!! Luke and Emmy made me feel so warm and fuzzy. Emmy was such a relatable character with her ADHD and internal struggles. I love a good cowboy romance and I never knew I wanted to be called sugar until today. I liked their banter and relationship. NO THIRD ACT BREAKUP!!!! Iโve never read a book where the vibes were good and then itโs over, what a trip. Smutty, lighthearted, with a deep meaningful relationship that made me smile so much my cheeks hurt. Thank you Layla Sage for this beautiful soft love story. I already miss Clementine and Luke ๐ ๐
โI couldnโt believe the universe was so big, and I got placed on this random floating rock at the same time as Clementine Ryder.โ
โSugar, you deserve to go out on your own terms. Just because you got dusted doesnโt mean youโre done.โ
โI leaned into Emmy, my hand on her throat still keeping her pinned to my office door, and spit the whiskey in her mouth.โ

Western Romance featuring Emmy Ryder and Luke Brooks. Emmy came from a small town called Meadowlark, WY. She was a professional barrel racer who suffered a traumatic accident that forces her to return home and leave her profession. After the accident, she suffers from panic attacks and PTSD, and was unable to ride again. While at home she contemplates her future; she also runs into a family friend, Luke Brooks. Now that theyโve both grown up they are both seeing each other for the first time as adults, and sparks fly. Luke tries to reason with himself that this is his best friendโs little sister but he just canโt resist Emmyโs look and charm. I truly enjoyed the book! I familiarized myself with Emmy with her having anxiety attacks/panic attacks. As well as her diagnosis with ADHD; I still feel like I suffer from that daily. I loved the chemistry and the banter between Luke and Emmy. Luke was a very Alpha male made into a downright cinnamon roll (turns into mush) over Emmy. I was not expecting the spice level in this book, but we are HERE FOR IT. Luke has that bad boy dominance in the spicy scenes and Emmy eats it all up, while also having her moments. I love the way Luke has patience with Emmy and gives guidance that helps her recover from her past trauma with the accident. Emmy overcoming her fears and figuring out what it was like to really love someone throughout the process. It was all the little moments in this book that made me fall in love with it. Emmy is an easy-going loveable FMC, and Luke is adorable and cares so deeply. This line for me, says it all. Ms Lyla, thank you for creating a beautiful, strong, imperfect, relatable, and bada** woman for us all to have in our hearts. If you love a comfy and cozy read, then I definitely recommend this book! The hype around this book is well deserved. I absolutely cannot wait for the second one to come out to hear Wes and Ada's story!pageafter_paige's review

I really enjoyed this one much more than I was expecting! The cowboy romance genre has never really called to me but I saw this one and KU, saw there was no 3rd act breakup, and decided to give it a try. Iโm very glad I did!
I found Emmy very relatable, especially with her anxiety, and I see a lot of myself in that. Luke breathing with her made me want to cry because thatโs what my bf does for me. I absolutely loved their relationship and how the tension was there immediately!
This one is definitely more cowgirl centered than cowboy and I think thatโs maybe why I liked it! We saw Emmy ride and overcome. We saw Luke help out and support her (as he should).
I think that Gus was way more extra than necessary and I feel like the next book shouldโve been his and Teddyโs since we barely hear about Wes. Iโm still excited though and Iโll definitely be keeping up with this series!!
