A small town, western cowboy romance set on ranch with brothers best friend forbidden love tropes. It had the perfect recipe for a great book, but the chef just couldn’t cook with those ingredients. 😂

I felt the brother’s best friend part wasn’t done right in a sense where they barely knew each other even though they grew up together and he was essentially an adoptive brother. I didn’t see any kind of emotion connection between the MC’s - it was just lust and physical attraction. When did it go from a crush to love? Because he was nice to her while she had a panic attack?! I feel like I missed something - from where I’m sitting it felt as though he only was nice to her because that’s what her brothers and his best friend would have wanted him to do. Or because she’s the most beautiful girl he’s even seen urgh!  It didn’t need the brother’s best friend trope really- more like they were acquaintances to friends to lovers. She moved back home and suddenly it was insta love. Gus’s overreaction had me laughing like wtf really ?! At least there was a cute moment where Teddy got him to Calm down (a good set up for their story). Didn’t love Wes TBH… but the quiet brother will get his interior designer love in the next book hehe

There was also a lot of showing and not telling in this which I didn’t enjoy and when I needed some emotional depth or substance, they hit me with some shitty ADHD diagnosis storyline and her PTSD trauma from her fall which he helped her with (by being there, it just all felt convenient and forced).

It did start to grow on me in the last 100 pages but more so because I’m OBSESSED with Teddy and Gus having this “I can’t stand you” banter. Found myself routing for the side characters more than the MC’s haha. All in all, a decent start to a series but not quite for me.
