Oh My God. This book was insane. A MASSIVE step up from the last one. So many twists and turns and the ending was JAW DROPPING. I understand now why everyone says to read the second book if you were iffy on the first. I thought the first book was fine, but this book blew it out of the water. Such a big improvement on the last one. Pierce Brown's writing style and plotting feels alot more adult in this one.

I still had a couple of complaints however. First of all, Darrow is a hot and cold character for me. He is interesting to read about, and inspiring in the book, but sometimes he can be so mellow dramatic where he acts like a child. Its very frustrating. Also it's hard to picture some scenes because Pierce Brown's writing style is so jarring and non-descriptive that its hard to get invested sometimes. If this book was longer with more detail, it would be so much more immersive. Hopefully i get to see this in later books.

Overall though, it was amazing. Such a big improvement on the previous book. 4.5 out of 5 stars (rounded up to 5).

This is a great sequel to the first! I have to admit some of it was dragged out and I found myself wanting to skip ahead but overall it was good. The ending was brutal! lol

Co by tu powiedzieć.

This series is never afraid to take dark turns and subject the protagonist to untold horrors. Every second of reading this book had me on the edge of my seat, trembling with fear for Darrow. He lives in a treacherous world, one that feels as unpredictable to the reader as to the protagonist. Beyond the philosophical arguments of the book (which are interesting in and of themselves) comes the rising action and tense plot and character relationships which are written so cleverly and seriously that it feels sometimes indistinguishable from a true story of real people. Besides the constant anxiety that plagued me while reading this novel, I had a fantastic time and really did get completely sucked into the narrative.
