Truely a 5 star read for me truely enjoyed everything from getting to know the characters in a deeper way, their flaws and what makes them lovable, the pacing, the yearning, the buildup and release of their tension, EVERYTHING. To be fair I really throughly enjoyed reading the roommate and the follow up on the intimacy experiment was absolutely perfect. I only wish we could have seen the ending a bit more flushed out but it was satisfying nonetheless.
Loved this book, learn so much and their story and journey its so cute. Liked it alot!!
And this beautiful quotes <33
“Say the word, and we can forget this ever happened. I’ll pretend that I never thought about loving you.” Ethan searched for the seam of the horizon. “I won’t forget that we kissed. Sorry”—Ethan tried to grin a little—“but you have to cut me some slack on that one. Because, I mean, come on, you’re you.”
“But I promise not to think about it too much. I’ll save it for those really dark moments, when I look at everything wrong with the world and I feel helpless. When every good thing I’ve ever done, ever seen or heard about, pales against the garish human capacity for hate and corruption.”
“I’ll think about it then, if it’s okay,” he said gently, “just for a few seconds, so I can remember what it was like to feel transcendent.”
“Look, I should have been honest with you before. Somewhere between watching you punch a guy in the teeth and watching you lay a perfect bunt, I realized you’re ruining me for anyone else.”
“After all, a trade that only goes one way is actually called stealing, and after a while, even the most callous hearts grow guilty.”
“We can give you a week to wrap up your affairs with the woman,” Jonathan was saying, but his voice was far away. “We don’t want to cause either party any more pain than necessary.”
Ethan opened his eyes. “I don’t need a week.”
“I quit.”
“You’ll just have to break up with me. That’s what they want, right?”
Ethan’s eyes went hard. “I don’t care what they want. I’m not going to break up with you. I love you.”
“You love me?” Fuck. “Okay.” Breathe. Keep breathing. “Okay. You’re right.” It wasn’t really fair to ask him. Not after that. “I’ll have to do it.”
“You will always be the best thing that ever happened to me,” she told him, hands chasing every part of his face, his arms, his chest, trying to commit them to memory, trying to force herself to say good-bye.
Naomi might love him until the day she died.
Wouldn’t that be an exquisite tragedy? She had to douse a hysterical laugh.
Even though she was still standing there. Still holding him. She was already gone.
I am a stick of dynamite.
It was no great tragedy when dynamite destroyed itself, not when that was exactly what it was designed to do.
“Ethan, anyone who loves you knows how much Beth Elohim means to you and would want you to keep your position—would probably do whatever they could to make sure you had the opportunity to help as many people as possible.” Leah dropped her gaze to her lap. “Even if it meant losing some of your love.”
She didn’t know why literal cold feet were a physical symptom of sadness, only that they were.

While this book was not as spicy as the roommate I was beyond hooked through out this whole book. For so so so long Jewish characters have always been cast aside as minor characters who are nerdy and stereotypical. I have been waiting forever for a Jewish Main character that I could relate to and this book delivered! I could relate to both Naomi’s and Ethan’s journeys and I hope to see more wonderfully complex characters like them in the future
