Best Superman GN ever. Really guys, this one is amazing and should be (if it isn't for some reason) in the cannon of Graphic Novels you must read with Watchmen, Frank Miller's Batmans, Locke & Key, etc. You think Superman and you think high powered bunches and boyscout morality, but this story is as powerful in political theme as it is twisted and exciting in plot. The authors know this is a one-time thing, so punches aren't pulled, and both Luthor and Superman are higher-powered versions of the characters we know.
I feel like I don't need to read any more Superman, because good luck ever comparing to this one. Very relevant to today's world, and I think it always will be. You can have peace, prosperity and civil rights, but good luck getting all three at the same time.

Interesting comic. It's the ultimate "what if" story - what if Superman landed in Soviet Russia and grew up to be Stalin's buddy instead of the ultimate all-American jock?
el plot twist !!!

This is a great 3-part comic that re-imagines the Superman saga with the twist that his ship landed in the Ukraine instead of Kansas. It was very interesting to see American assumptions questioned by this alternate Man of Steel that championed communism. I particularly liked the theme of chaotic, imperfect freedom vs. government controlled peace, and the rise of a Russian Batman who echoed the Joker in many ways. Definitely recommend this book!

Perhaps my expectations were too high. RED SON is a fine enough "What If?!" kind of story, but it all moves so quickly that it ends up being unsatisfying. There are some character moments in the beginning that are interesting, but these are ditched mostly for plot, plot, plot. Very cool idea, and pretty good execution.
This is one of the best comics I have read. The twist in the end is fantastic.
What a great Elseworlds tale. Superman is an American ideal but what if he crash landed in Russia in the late '30s? Well, read this and find out. This book is so well thought out and gorgeously drawn by both artists. I love all the easter eggs but they were needed for this to be unforgettable. I love how even though he was a communist he was still the hero we know. Fantastic work by Mark Millar!
