I wanted to read it because I watched the animated movie based on it and that was hot garbage. This alternate DC universe imagines Kal-el crashes in the rural Stalin controlled the Soviet Union. This concept is incredible and the execution has it's moments but I kinda wish it was long and handled this Superman's origin closer. It is interesting seeing Superman take up the Communist ideals and with the help of Brainiac dominating the globe in what he believes is a peaceful transition. The idea of Batman living under the tunnels of Moscow fighting a guerilla war against soviet superman was my favorite part. Uber-capitalist vigilante hiding under communist superman's Moscow was a pretty genius reversal. In the end, it could've been a bit deeper.
Superman reimaginado en el escenario de la guerra fría y más allá
I read this as a preparation for the current Superman Rebirth arc (Multiplicity, I think that's what it's called) because the Red Son Superman will make an appearance. And even though I knew this was a classic, I did not expect this to be so good, the premise is quite simple, but it was executed in such a way that still makes Superman familiar and sticks to his core identity, yet different in some other way. Also, I love that ending, really wrapped the story very nicely

Great Elseworlds story that shakes the foundation of what Superman stands for. Near the end it jumps ahead too quickly but the final pages make up for it
Interesting story with a unique premise that delivers with an entertaining and subversive story to the normal Superman mythos. Made for a good read.

Rating: 3.5 Stars (Good).
The big reason that I'm not giving this 5 stars is that there was a stretch in the middle when it just wasn't fun. Other than that, proving my skepticism wrong, Superman: Red Son was brilliantly-conceived and very well-executed. I suppose that I shouldn't be surprised, because Mark Millar darn well should know his DC lore, but he manages to write an alternate history (both US history and DC history), yet retain the essence of of all the key DC players to weave a story that both action-packed and about issues. Considering that it was published more than 10 years ago already, it's ideas remain eerily relevant.
