crazy read when youre both a historian and a bit of a commie. i think the idea is really cool and cold war history is fascinating but also this is an extremely western view of the whole thing and gets so much stuff wrong. like how every bad thing that happens in america is caused by communists somehow, or how diana was only communist because she had a crush on superman and totally didnt have any political convictions, or the way colonialism or racism or the aids crisis arent mentioned once in all this, or the way the comic kind of ends on "superman doing dictatorship to help people is bad but lex luthor helping people to do a dictatorship is good" , or even just the idea that if superman was ukranian hed Of Course become stalin 2. yes yes power corrupts and all that but im not a superman fan and even i still feel like thats wildly out of character. and SOMEHOW they still managed to undermine how terrible stalin was lmao. in conclusion this was interesting but also kind of... what???

I thought this was an excellently plotted, planned, and executed take on the "What if Superman landed in the Soviet Union instead of small-town America?" They way they worked in so much of what we know of Superman and his history and family, and twisted it just enough to make it something plausible, new, and yet familiar. True to the Superman we know, yet also putting much we know about him on its head.

I have to wonder, how did Wonder Woman recover after breaking her lasso like she did? She seemed pretty helpless for a while after that, then there was no clues that I noticed as to how she recovered.
