I thought this book provided great advice and scripts essentially for how to talk to your kids and help them through their big feelings. I can get behind most of it but I’m not sure I’m naturally playful enough to do some of the things they talked about. Maybe I’ll get there.

This book is helpful and I definitely got some good nuggets a of information from it to keep in mind. Some aspects seem geared towards younger kids or so I hope-with labeling emotions for kids rather than asking them how they feel and there is some emphasis on blaming ones owns parents which did not sit well with me rather than having us take responsibility for our own actions. There could be some of that happening for people but a lack of alternative explanations and ownership did not sit well with me.

Genuinely such a wonderful resource for parents and therapists alike. This has guided me in my private practice work with families as a licensed therapist in so many beautiful ways. I truly believe this is some of the most meaningful and well-informed information to bring us closer to the children in our lives while making sure their needs are met both physically and especially emotionally.
