Promises Part 3 is the third book in the Bounty Hunters series by the incredibly talented AE Via. I'm still so happy that I discovered her, I just wish it has been sooner! Her writing is always fresh, her characters funny, strong and a little vulnerable. This book has a few of my favorites: Bounty hunters and a main character who is forty-six! It's hard to find older characters in books these day and I just have to read them when I find them. Ford is an ex SEAL who hunts down bad guys. His partner, Dana, is the team watchman. He's saved his life and his brothers' more than once. He's dependable, smart and always hits his mark. He's also back with his ex-girlfriend and Ford hates that. He doesn't want to be attracted to Dana. He's too young for him. He's too good. Dana is bisexual. He's always had the hots for Ford, but he thought he was straight. But when Ford starts to act like more of an ass than usual, Dana thinks it might be because he wants him. Is that even possible? If Ford wants Dana, he's going to be available and make that happen. Dana can't stop thinking about Ford and his sexy beard and leather pants. He's big. He's strong and he's hot as hell. Ford can't fight the attraction anymore. He needs Dana. Badly. He's not looking for a quick night with him either. He wants it all. Can they be partners at work and partners at home? Will Ford trust in Dana and realize he wants all of him? I loved this story! These men. Lord help me! I was fanning myself and laughing out loud. Leather pants. Muscles. Beards. Men over thirty-five? YES! I even loved the chest hair! I mean, come on. MEN HAVE HAIR! Ford is burly and brooding, but he's also sensitive and wants a real relationship. Dana is younger, but he's mature. He's sexy and beautiful, but he thinks his past defines him sometimes. They are perfect for each other. Strong when they need to be. Asking for what they want. Showing how they feel without having to use words. This book has all the things I love about reading m/m. Two strong men who aren't afraid to show how they feel or go after what they want. But they also show their softer sides and their senses of humor. Overall it was perfect. Just what I needed! I can't wait for the next one. The secondary characters' storyline has me hooked already! Brian…my heart hurts for you and I need your story!

"But I won't chase you. I shouldn’t have to. If you want me like you say, then I'm standing right here. Why are you going in the opposite direction?"

"I've wanted to touch your body for three years, Bradford King."

This book had me all kinds of intrigued. I wasn’t sure if I would like Dana as much as I liked the other guys. And I didn’t even know Ford was a man’s man. So that was interesting. I like how they wanted each other but for whatever reason it was easier to be pissy toward each other than to come right out and say what each other really wanted.

It was a good addition to the series. But I am really looking forward to the next book Ford’s brother has my heart and I want to see him get his HEA.

Fantastic narration. I loved it. I want more.

I really enjoyed this story. It was great to see these two finally start coming together. Dana and Ford have been drawn and interested in each other but neither really knew that they other one was interested. Things start coming to a boiling point though as Ford got back together with his girlfriend and she doesn't exactly treat him the best and Ford is jealous (though won't admit it). It finally comes out that they are both interested in each other as they are in the midst of locating and capturing a huge bounty that the whole team is working on. Nothing is super simple or clear cut but they start working through things with each other and building a relationship. I loved watching these two come together amidst all of the action. They are both alpha males and it was great watching them come together and balance each other out in different ways. I loved the glimpses of Brian and Sway as well and can't wait to watch them come together in the next book.
The narrator did a fantastic job with the characters and story and really brought it to life.

This was a slightly lower anxiety book than the previous ones. I'm not sure what's left for the second book, as the meet cute AND the confession of interest for the next couple has been communicated in this book. Though I've been looking forward to Brian's story so I'm excited all the same.

Any way, this book. Only one main plot beat in the relationship which is the need to break up, so it was very low stress. There wasn't any doubt that these two would get together. I honestly didn't understand what was going on with the rest of the plot, but I just trusted that it was fine.

A Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words Review An Alisa Review:

Rating: 4 stars out of 5

I am a big AE Via fan and this book definitely didn’t disappoint. We have seen Ford and Dana in the previous books in this series and it’s great to see them get their own story. Ford is having trouble processing his feelings and reactions to Dana and ends up reacting in anger more often than not. Dana is for the most part lonely and really only wants someone around that actually cares for him and this causes him to stay with his uppity girlfriend even when he is unhappy.

Dana needs to step up and get rid of his girlfriend before they can do anything while they are investigating and trying to locate two bountys. Dana and Ford have to bump heads a few times and learn to trust even more before they can really begin to have a relationship. Both of them have to accept what their relationship means while still being able to do their jobs at each other’s sides no matter the risk.

This book is told through both characters’ eyes so we get the chance to understand both of them well. We also get the opportunity to see a bit through Ford’s brother’s, Brian’s, eyes which gives me hope that the next book will be his opportunity to find the partner he needs. I could just feel how betrayed Dana felt by his girlfriend and then when Ford pushes him away at first. Seeing Ford finally accept that he can have the relationship he wants to with Dana was wonderful. These two build a strong relationship that will only get stronger as they are together and I can’t wait to read Brian’s story.

Cover art is great and follows the pattern for this series.

I liked the story of Ford & Dana well enough and I’m happy I gave it a chance.

And if it only was for the glimpses we already got from Brian & Sway and their first encounter. So tender so hot. Omg omg I am so f* excited for their story. I’m getting right to it.

This book was much better for me than book 2. The guys are chasing the bad guys as usual so there is a bit of action. I think you could probably read this as a standalone although you wouldn’t have all the characters’ history which I’m not a fan of so if you’re like me I’d read them in order.

The whole girlfriend angle with Dana was hard to read and she was not a likeable character. I’m not totally sure why we had that in here other than to finally push these two together.

I like Ford and Dana together although I would like to see more of them with each other. They were at each other’s throats for part of the book as they fought their attraction and the sexual tension was THICK. Once they get past that, they are all in and they are great together. It seems like Ford is the dominant one but sometimes Dana’s dominance comes shining through so I’m not sure. I love how sweet they are with each other when they’re alone and their guard is down. They make great work partners and life partners and I’m hoping in the next book we get more of them.

We got to see quick glances of the two previous couples and we get a preview of Brian’s story. Brian’s story should be pretty amazing…he has a story to tell and his love interest’s story might be just as good. I’m anxious to see how that turns out!
