This book is a cozy hug, a testament to love in all forms, and a terrific treat to return to Linda Holmes’ Maine. I loved it. I recommend reading Evvie Drake Starts Over first to fully appreciate the callbacks in this one. Such fun to revisit Calcasset.
I also loved that Laurie is a size 18, single and turning 40, doesn’t want to get married or have kids, and truly lives for what makes her happy. She’s also hilarious and smart and deeply loved and the plot is not centered on her size - it’s not even mentioned until you’re a ways into the book. Rare to see that kind of female character centered in a story and it was really refreshing.
Really looking forward to what Linda writes next!

It's an easy to read book, I picked it up because I needed something that easygoing and mindless. It was a refreshing story, nothing complicated or dramatic, just a cozy read.

I like Linda Holmes’ writing - and liked the way the book wrapped up - it seemed honest and not cookie cutter
Also a nice cleanser after some heavier books
