I really liked this book. I liked the Aunt's little mystery. I liked Lori's decisive indecisiveness of what she wanted a relationship to be. The second chance romance trope is always fun, and especially, the dropping of the name Ani Difranco (a favorite independent musician of mine). I've felt like Lori don't point in my life, and I get not settling until you just know that you know.
So cute! Not the story I was expecting, and I kinda love that! I thought I'd be getting a much more formulaic experience, similar to Evvie Drake. While I'd still call this a romance, I think it's more about love in our lives - love for ourselves, the love of our families, our friends, and sure, romantic love as well.

This is objectively a good book but I maybe hated it. It feels like a romance for adults and it’s beautifully written and the characters feel fully realized (except, maybe not the male love interest??) and I hated everything they cared about and chose to do. So. 4 star objective 2 star for me.
One of my top books this year. In listened to it and of course Julia Whelan does not disappoint. A lovely, easy story, yet different than I’ve read before. I laughed abs cried.
As a generally romantic person, it was interesting to read a love story from the perspective of an un-romantic protagonist. I view Laurie as a bit selfish in regards to Nick, but I can’t blame her for wanting what she wants. I love a good heist, and truly enjoyed that part of the story. As always, loved Julia Whelan’s narration.
This book made me feel very, very seen in a way that most romances don't. I usually don't read hetero romance novels, but made an exception because I love Linda Holmes and, frankly, find her extremely relatable. She did not let me down - I cried at the end because it was so good and expressed feelings and ways of being in relationships that often don't show up, even in queer romances. This book is about the joys of being single, and also the possibilities of relationships that don't have to involve constant togetherness, or marriage, or kids. I'm in love with it.
3/4/2024 - made me cry the second time through as well.

This is a delightful novel about a nearly 40-year-old woman going through her great aunt's belongings. There is a slight mystery, friendship, and some romance. It is refreshing to see an older woman not portrayed as desperate or sad, but happy with her independence. A quick, fun read.
I love Linda Holmes’s books so much! It’s refreshing to have a book that doesn’t have an epilogue where our heroine is pregnant. Love babies, but not every nascent romance has to have a “he touched her growing belly adoringly” last chapter. And there was a heist! I did NOT expect a heist.
