3.5 stars. Much like Linda Holmes last book I read, this one also took me awhile to get through. I’m glad I read the book but I don’t know why the book didn’t hook me from the start.

3.5 stars for this quick plane read! I'm always a sucker for a book set in Maine and with a character who goes back to her hometown and reconnects with her high school crush who just happens to be a sexy librarian!

Solid 3.5 stars. Enjoyable read. It did leave me a little confused… but I didn’t have any expectations for the main character to begin with.

Audio. This was a really charming book, in my opinion. I usually don’t give five stars to books unless they are so good I would read them again, but it might be fair to say that this deserved five stars because it was one of those stories where I want to know what that characters are doing right now. I want to know more about their lives.

This books was funny, romantic-but not in a sappy unrealistic way, there was mystery and drama. I was in it from the very beginning and this is what I look for in a good audiobook. Do I have to keep rewinding? Does my attention drift? Not for this book. I felt part of the story. I related to the characters. It kept me on my toes thinking about how it would end. I really liked the main character. I liked her tenacity and conviction. She’s a strong female character.

And I really loved the ending.

A fun well crafted romance with a touch of mystery. Funny and touching and a great follow up to Linda Holmes’ first novel.

Just a fun book- a little mystery, a con, a little romance and the second book in two weeks that I’ve read that mentioned Ani DiFranco (my 90s self feels so seen) as well as Indigo Girls & Lilith Fair. Really a book written just for those of us in our 40s and kinda pleasantly perfect.

This book has a lot of great things to say about singleness, but that doesn’t make it entertaining. Too much preachy dialogue dragged this book way, way down for me. Looking back, I see that I loved the dialogue in her first book, but not here. I skimmed…or skipped…through so much in the second half that I can barely say I read this book.

What a generous and loving novel about finding love, aging, and building a life for yourself. Linda Holmes is a talented author; she creates such a vivid sense of place and well developed characters. I loved Laurie, Dot, June, and Nick. The mystery of the duck was so fun and engaging.

I highly recommend this cozy read to anyone in need of a little joy and love.

This book was just ok for me.

The characters were unique, but I had a hard time connecting with most of the supporting characters, because there were so many of them and they just kind of disappeared when their part was done. The plot was very predictable, with a very tidy ending.
