Kate Darling was the daughter of the late famous June Darling. June had been left in an orphanage and adopted by Evie. When Evie becomes ill she finds out that Tom Stafford, the famous artist, may know something about her mother. Kate begins the trail to find out about her mother. It leads her from London to Corsica, Paris, and New York.

I just couldn’t get through it. I’m not sure exactly why, but I gave up.

I’ve loved every Lucy Foley book I’ve read until this one. It was extremely slow progression throughout the book and had a very lackluster ending. I’m used to Foley’s suspense and thrills and this book had none of that. I kind of get what the story was about, but at the same time I feel like I must not have understood something because I felt there was no point to the storyline.

Very different from the other books I've read by this author ( The guest list, The Paris Apartment) and some of the things I didn't like about those books worked a bit better here. Lovely descriptions of the various locations! It just couldn't quite grab me, the stories shifted too quickly.

2.5 - it was pretty slow, kind of boring. Usually I love Lucy Foley’s books but the writing style of this one bothered me
