Thoroughly researched, but still an incredibly pleasant book to read. I highly recommend this book if you're interested in endurance sports or in the evolution of human performance.

Not a how-to on building endurance but an overall closer look at the science and study behind endurance athletes and feats of endurance from everyday people.

amazing true stories of athletes. a tad long and boring with stats at times.
challenging informative medium-paced

A good popular science introduction to the research of endurance athleticism.

Extremely fascinating book on the limits of human endurance. I learned a lot about exercise science and the interdependence of mind and body in sports.

The forward by malcolm gladwell is awesome. The book itself seems kind of dry to me, and lost me after a couple of long anecdotes. TBH I think it is very possible that this is more to do with the audiobook reader than anything else, so I would take this review with a grain of salt :).

It was dry and scientific in places, but it made me want to go run.

There’s something oddly satisfying about reading a neatly packaged, insightful literature review. The content was fascinating from beginning to end. My only complaint is the many rough transitions between ideas. It is heavy on scholarship but worth it for anyone intrigued by the human machine.

What a book!
