Interesting and thought-provoking, this book is a manifesto of sorts about the importance and value of resisting the attention economy, fighting the constant urge to check and be validated by our phones and social media feeds. The title, as even the author points out, is deceptive. It is more about doing what is important or at least not productive from the capitalist, technologist point of view, but rather finding connection with our fellow humans and other inhabitants of the world. Recommended.

I was hoping this book would offer more realistic advice, but I got the sense that I was never going to get what I wanted out of it. As far as I could get through it really just feels like you're listening to your hippy friend that isn't actually plugged into the full time work force discuss the merits of decentering capitalism, but without seeming to offer any realistic advice. A few nuggets of wisdom in the bit I read, but ultimately I just wasn't feeling it.
