overall the book was great, I love the author's style of writing but I guess I'm just not the biggest fan of the tropes (primarily the main one - friends (?) to lovers)

Too insta-love and insta-nickname for me. Also, the first time they kissed, you get hit with an out-of-left-field “good girl” that just doesn’t fit. Beyond that, it was difficult to get into, and I didn’t care to read any further.

This read sparked joy for me.
I wouldn’t say this is a slow burn, but these two thankfully don’t immediately jump into bed either. There’s still plenty of sexy time, no worries. I do feel like they both knew each other very well before they started getting physical so the intimacy levels were at least partially established first.
I wouldn’t say this is exactly a beachy book because there aren’t many scenes of them on the beach. The coastal vibes are strong though and the setting is atmospheric.
All in all, I loved these characters. Jack is a very positive, gentle man, he falls first. Aurora is so gloomy and down she just needs some time to accept her feelings. They are perfect together and their relationship couldn't just be a fling.
Maggie Gates, first time I read her work, delivered a comforting novel. I've really enjoyed the romance, the humor and the spice. Her writing is gorgeous, and even if the book is on the long side the pace is flowing and it never gets boring.
I highly recommend to read 700 Senses of Summer, an ideal beach read.
