  • The more I read, the less I believed that Rhett was a man in his 30s.
  • The "spicy" chapters also read like average fanfiction, and it felt a little awkward at times.
  • Also some very heavy themes dealt with in under 400 pages.
  • Easy to read, with none of the faffing about. Just two characters developing and exploring their feelings towards one another, and also exploring their own individual futures.
  • Read a bit like a movie towards the end there with the resolution bit but I'm not complaining.

This was SO MUCH FUN! I got this as a gifted blind date with a book, I had no expectations going in, and I'm really glad I didn't because I wouldn't have anticipated how much fun I had reading this!
It had me staying up way too late because I just couldn't put it down!
I fell in love with pretty much every character, I LOVED the playful banter and how the MC's vulnerabilities were revealed slowly.

The spice was top notch, but definitely be warned - not one to read in public!!! (Like I did with Icebreaker on a plane...)

I had to sleep on it to think about a rating.
I loved pretty much everything about this book except for the easiest grammar mistake to avoid found in the book. (We're instead of we're and also it was supposed to be "was" anyways as the pronoun was "it".)
It is rare for me to find long haired book boyfriends (which is my favorite type of men IRL) so it is a plus for me. I kind of thought it was long ass hair? Like middle of the back long, not just shoulder height but alright.
I will definitely read more of Elsie Silver, thank you very much.

Loved everything about this book! My only complaint is the miscommunication and the way Rhett acted after getting hurt and was at the hospital, there was no need for that

this was NOT an enemies to lovers romance. i have no idea why it’s marked as one, since it’s obviously a grumpy-sunshine romance.

the overall plot was questionable because why does a 30+ year old man need a babysitter? i personally think that was strange. are men that inept? i’m going to assume yes. though her becoming a babysitter led to us meeting some amazing side characters and my favorite scenes: the eaton family dinners.

summer and rhett were cute and the will-they-won’t-they dance they went through was so good to watch unfold. from the beginning their banter made me laughing so much and their chemistry was incredible, especially in the bedroom. their romance isn’t big and loud and dramatic, it’s cute and fluffy. though i do have to say that the third act breakup could’ve been avoided if! they! just! had! talked! they did overcome the shit that came their way with time and acknowledging their differences and shortcomings.

some things that occurred in the story pissed me the fuck off. her stepmother, half-sister, and predatory doctor/ex (who then became her brother-in-law!) deserved the worse but none of them faced any consequences for how horribly they treated summer.

i’m usually not a big stickler when it comes to writing but i couldn’t overlook some of the dialogue and how it did not flow like dialogue, which made it difficult to get through the characters’ conversations. but the rest of the writing was good.

all in all, despite there being nothing special about this book, it still intrigued me enough to read the next one because i grew found of the eaton brothers.

i think i now understand why people are downbad for cowboys… they’re hot. save a bull, ride a cowboy, indeed.
