This is my least favorite of Rachel Harrison's books so far (minus The Return and Bad Dolls, which I haven't read yet), but I still had a good enough time. A very quick read. I can't lie, though. For how much I loved Black Sheep, this book is a let down for me. Mostly because I really disliked one of the two main characters (and I'm pretty sure we were meant to like her).
First of all, public service announcement to everybody, if your friends are not living a life that you think is really "living a life" keep your mouth shut and just be there for them. They didn't ask you for your shitty opinion of their enjoyment of staying in and eating and gentle vacations and not putting themselves in regular bodily harm for something that is not actually fucking fun. Anyway so I hated Naomi.
Our POV character, Sloane, isn't much better, first of all because she likes Naomi. And also because she is sort of pathetic, but only because she would rather be with a shitty man who cheats on her than be alone.
Anyway that all sounds super negative, but this book is very readable, and Harrison's take on vampires was fun and stressful to read. I just wish the characters this had been happening to were ones I cared about at all.
[3.5 stars]

I was a little hesitant to start this book after looking at the reviews (I was excited for it and bought it when it came out) especially after not living my last read by Rachel Harrison but oh my god was I wrong.
This book was 10/5 stars, i literally read it in two sittings and would have loved it to be longer. The main character was fantastic and I related to her in a lot of ways. I felt like there was lots of growth in the book. I wish there was even more to the story because I would have kept reading.

This book reminded me a lot of "The Return" and if you enjoyed that read, I think you'll enjoy this one. That said, I didn't feel like the horror of this book was really strong or compelling, and I finished the book without a lot of clarity for what it was trying to say to me. It was just a bit of a boring story for me without a lot to grab me.
I also really struggle to understand Sloane's relationships to other people because she doesn't honestly seem to like anyone in her life, including Naomi. What's the appeal in spending time with others if you resent everyone?
