This book was honestly not what I expected it to be. I really really like the plot but It could've been written in a much better way. There were a lot of things I didn't like about this book. First thing is the main character; Annabelle. I found her a bit annoying and I hated that there were lots of weird stuff she was discovering in the beginning of the story and she just like took it normally. I didn't feel anything throughout the story. No excitement, No surprise, nothing tbh. Maybe just a little bit but like in the last ten pages of the book only.
And to be honest, the only character I truly liked was Will. And I didn't like the ending because there are still a lot of unanswered questions that I hoped to know the answers of.

Seems like the writers just forgot a lot of stuff while writing. That’s annoying, but it was a quick read

I read plenty of YA books despite not being one and I generally enjoy them. Sometimes I even love them. But even though this book sounded like it would be really good, I just couldn't get into it. I was bored out of my mind and couldn't help but think it would have been more enjoyable if it was written for an older audience. As it is, it was just way too teenager-y for me. And really, nothing much actually happens. Plus the ending was stupid and really ticked me off. I do want to make a point though and say that the story idea itself was great, and the writing was also well done. I just didn't like how it was all executed.

Annabelle is not a popular girl at school, but she has her own group of friends and is happy with them. Her best friend since she was around 4 is Will. They know each other better than anybody else and can always count on the other (it was so obvious what his little secret was going to be too). Her parents are divorced, her mother is always frazzled, and her little brother is a typical younger brother. Lately Annabelle has been dreaming a lot of happy dreams and is falling for her dream boy that is always the star. And when they kiss in her dream, everything is about to change.

When her dream boy shows up at her school, she tries to convince herself it's not real. Because really, how could it? But when he basically stalks her house the next morning, she goes out to talk to him. And he tells her that she has dreamed him into the real world. It's hard to believe, and she doesn't for the longest time, but she is going to enjoy having her dream boy next to her when she's awake. All is not sunshine and rainbows though. Martin knows much of how people act and what's what, but sometimes it's painful to watch when he doesn't understand. Will is jealous and doesn't even seem to hide it but Annabelle has no idea what his problem with Martin is. Oh, and a nightmare is stalking Annabelle and is determined to steal her life for her own. Ah yes, and let's not forget prom being thrown in there because what teenage life is complete without it?

Throughout the madness that comes with the nightmare, Annabelle learns who in her little town are really dreams made real and who the dreamers were. But even that isn't what it seems and there's more to Annabelle than anyone thought.

There was clearly an underlying theme of dreams this month, I suppose. However, I’m afraid I didn’t enjoy Dream Boy nearly as much I loved The Dream Thieves. (And honestly, who can compete with Richard Gansey II? Nobody, is the answer.)

Dream Boy was an interesting paranormal read. We follow Annabelle, a girl who has strange, vivid dreams. One day, the reoccurring boy in her dreams shows up at her school, and then things get crazy.

The plot seemed promising, but I’m afraid the premise was lost in the insta-love and the love triangle. I have found this to be a problem with many novels in the past, where the plot is incredibly fascinating, and yet it is erased with the over-the-top romance.

Now, the romance was not that bad. I actually found the love triangle weirdly intriguing, but it didn’t take long for me to cringe at the romance between Annabelle and her two love interests.

But that aside, this was a quick and interesting read with creepy paranormal aspects. I enjoyed the development of the plot and where it led our protagonist. Annabelle showed significant growth by the end of the novel, and I admire that. I just wish so much of her story wasn’t lost in these boys.

Okay 3 stars. It was okay. Decent. Good. I saw the plot twist coming though even though I'm such a gullible person. But it was okay. She was kinda late and quick to switch lanes tho, makes me think she's quite shallow. Don't get me wrong I'm on team Will ofc but their development was not done THAT nicely. In the end I didn't even care for the romance. And the end was okay too. Actually loved Talon's character. There were a lot of lore hidden in each character like Paulo and Serena, bro I wanna know what happens! But overall okay ig! Read this with me not in the best state of mind so my review is sht.

The narrative surprised me because it felt more real and mature than others I've read so far. The female protagonist Annabelle is also a sweet, well-rounded girl.
I liked when she and Martin (Josh) met. It was really cute. It felt somewhat like insta-love but I guess it was an okay "first meet" between protagonists.
The end was a bit anti-climatic and not where I expected it to go. Overall, an okay girlie read :)

When I first read the synopsis of Dream Boy I knew I wanted to read it right away, and honestly I think it was because of the prospect of a great romance. A girl dreams of a boys for months, fall in love with him in her dreams and then one day he appears at her school? Sign me up please because I wanted all the swoon worthy moments. But sadly I felt not as many swoon worthy moments as I wanted.

When I started reading Dream Boy I was so into the book that i read the first half super fast, I wanted to find out what was going to happen. But as i continued reading I found that I was getting more annoyed as the pages passed. Here are some of the things that annoyed me:

1. The insta-relationship that happened once Martin aka Dream Boy and Annabelle met in the real world. I know that they met in the dream world and all, but it just seemed to all happen so fast and I did not get to fall for Martin in the same way that Annabelle did, so my feelings for him were very disconnected from the story. I really felt nothing for him.

2. The crazy jealousy that happened to Annabelle once Martin started talking to the "Super Popular Girl" at school. Annabelle knew she was being unreasonable yet she did some really stupid things and I thought that Martin handled it well, but also did not address it at all. I wanted there to be some conflict from that but there wasn't.

3. Will. He is Annabelle's best friends, and you can tell from the first time we meet him that he is love with Annabelle and she of course had no idea until the end. And the art that bugged me the most was that (Spoiler ahead) that once she realized he was in love with she realized that she has been in love with him this whole time! I think that was what bothered me the most throughout the book was the fact that Annabelle could not see what was right in front of her.

I will say that I did like the villain and the fact that it was a little girl. Very creepy when you think about it. i do think it would go better in a screen but I did enjoy the playfulness of her character and how little regard for life she had. She was a great character to have in this story because she was so different from all the other characters, and I she my favorite.

Overall Dream Boy was a quick read that although had some issues with story and characters, was very entertaining to read. I loved the lead up to the end and the reveal that seemed to come out of nowhere, which I kind of surprised me. Although I did not particularity like the end, because it did not have as much closure as I wanted, I felt it worked for the book.
