Post-reading thoughts~
I definitely liked the concept of this one. It's unique and kept me wanting to learn more. I wish we'd been able to dig deeper into the characters, especially Anabelle, but the plot was pretty solid. Also, WILL CONNOR.
Watch out for my full review at Stay Bookish.

I'm biased, yes. But so happy for my friend Madelyn for dreaming up this terrific story and collection of characters. Kept me intrigued all the way through. A wonderful YA novel. :)
I really wanted to like this story more. The cover was beautiful and what initially caught my attention. But the story...I don't know, it was missing...something for me. I feel like the ending was a bit incomplete.
This book was nothing but smiles, corny jokes, and sweetness!!!!!!!!! Oh my gosh I absolutely love Will!!!!!!!! Every moment with him and Annabelle kept me squirming out of my seat! How can a girl be so dang blind by a guys awesomeness like that! I mean come on!!
This was a good book, overall, but did find it a bit slow going in the beginning.
This story wasn't a disappointment but it wasn't as good as I wanted it to be. I'm a little upset about that but at least it wasn't a total waste!
Summary: Like everyone else Annabelle Manning dreams. And she dreams of the perfect guy her dream boy. But unlike everyone else one day a guy that looks just like her dream guy shows up at her school. Now she has to figure out if it's a coincidence or is it her dream boy for real. And if it is him how did he get there and does she have to worry about other dreams coming true?
Character(s): The characters were a bit blah ... they weren't that exciting to me. Maybe it's because I had really high expectations for this book but I can't pick a favorite character. Annabelle was a good main character but I just didn't find anything that special about her that made her stand out from everyone else. You know besides being the Dreamer with a capital D (I didn't make it up that's what it says in the story)!
Writing: The writing was good. It really pulled me in at the beginning and the chapters were perfect. They weren't so long to the point that I thought the book would last forever. I did find a couple of errors but other than that the writing was good.
Overall: Like I said I had high expectations for this story and I think that's what ruined it for me. But I'm glad I read it because the story is very original. I don't know if this will be a series or not but if it is I might continue with it.

I received an ARC of this book, courtesy of NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.
This book intrigued me because it had the element of magic -- a girl dreams a boy into existence, as well as an element of bizarre consequences or a creepy factor if you will (aka nightmares have come through, too). I enjoyed the fact that it wasn't heavy on the teen romance although there was the inevitable triangle --> girl dreams her ideal boy, but she has a guy best friend clearly in love with her.
Annabelle has to face her nightmares in order to save herself and her friends. Sounds creepy right? Unfortunately the pace of the book was both too fast and too slow. I never got swept up in the story and didn't find myself caring about any of the characters. There was little development character wise but at the same time the book felt like it was trying to be mystical, or the next big YA read. Also, I get wary of books written in first person because they are hard to maintain the right tenses and this book kept jumping from present tense to past and it was hard to get into the rhythm.
E.G. I knew it had been four years since my dad had left and these things happen and blah blah blah. But it still didn't seem right that he was marrying someone else. My mom hasn't even gone out on a date.
I found it odd as well, that while the plot was original and fresh, it was at times over explained and then easily accepted. Annabelle confides in a friend about her dream boy, and there is no hesitation in belief from her friends. If you're friend said she had a dream about a hunky guy and then he appeared at school the next day, would you believe her? You'd at least question it I would think right? At other times the dream boy Martin is trying to explain the other world-- the dream world and the description of how it works is cumbersome and too muddled. I kind of gave up eventually and just went with it.
For me I got lost, it wasn't creepy enough, captivating enough or mysterious enough for me to want to recommend it to anyone. It read a little young for me, and so if I were to recommend it I would do so for preteens perhaps. There's nothing in here that they wouldn't understand or would be too "adult content". I wish I could have liked this book more.

I was left desperately wanting more! Dreams apparently do come true in this awesomely amazing story from new to me authors. I was so invested in the characters that I couldn't believe what happened and the entire revelation was a shock!
My favorite part: the storyline. I have never read a book with this type of storyline. the dreams/dreamer thing was original and i liked the twist it gave to the story instead of the normal angel/werewolf/vampire/immortal thingy. Also the best friends in the story werent annoying as friends are in other stories, they added to it. Some of the things i didnt like was the mainstream meeting-in-some-sort-of-science-class-mostlikly-chemistry thing. I cant tell you how many Young Adult books ive read that do that. History is cool too right?
