Moss and Brooke's story is fun and flirty, sweet and steamy, and of course, filled with love.

Their journey starts as a ruse, but all too soon becomes real. They've been friends for a few years and have always been attracted to each other. I love how naturally their relationship progresses. Moss is a very special man. He notices and remembers the little details about Brooke, from her drink preferences to her mannerisms. He's protective, attentive, sweet, and hilarious. Brooke is a ray of sunshine who has every reason not to be. Going through life without ever knowing unconditional love from those who should freely give it, has made her a very loving woman. She has such a good heart and is smart, strong, and fun loving. I love how Moss and Brooke can basically read each other's minds. They help heal each other's hearts in such a beautiful way.

The Carmichael family is everything a family should be! I absolutely can not wait for more of their stories!!

I received an ARC for an honest review.

I loved this book. I loved the way Moss loved Brooke!

We meet the Carmichael family, and I love them. Moss is one of the many Carmichael brothers. Brooke (Brooklyn) works for the company the Carmichael parents own, and she and Moss are described as friends, but I would classify them as work friends. They don’t hang out, and at one point they mention the only time they texted outside of work hours was actually still tangentially related to work things.

After a series of events, he agrees to go to a family event with her. Her family really is the worst. Side note-I appreciate that Adriana Locke doesn’t try to magically redeem them in the epilogue, and instead just lets them be awful.

I loved the interactions with Moss and his family, Brooke and his family, Brooke and her BFF.

There is a 3AB, and it’s annoying. I understand why she’s upset but she’s also being amazingly selfish and for someone who claims to love isn’t thinking about that person at all. She more or less redeems herself but it wasn’t a good look on her. As far as him, for as cool as his family is, there should have been some therapy when he was 17, FFS.

Can’t wait for the other brothers’ books.

This. Book. Is. Everything! In all seriousness, the Carmichaels are now my favourite family. I want to jump into this world and live with them forever. Sass, heat, banter, and all the feels! I just loved this book so hard, not only for amazing story and the characters, but for the life lessons and deeper meaning I always find with an Adriana Locke story. I already know this is going straight to the top of books I re-read when I need to make my heart happy.

A joke turns into a full-fledged opportunity, as Brooke--feeling low and insecure, due to her family and how horrible they are--puts up a fake ad for a date.

From that point, joke or not--Brooke gets her date. In the form of her co-worker/friend, Moss. Brooke and Moss have never stepped over the line; remaining just friends and colleagues for the entire time they've known each other. Even if they may secretly be attracted to each other.

But once they start "fake dating", the lines get blurred.

Brooke and Moss were an exceptional couple. I really enjoyed watching their relationship progress into what just seemed entirely natural for the two of them.

The only thing I didn't like was the conflict in this was just...well, stupid. Moss literally loves Brooke but just can't say the words. He's a commitment-phobe. For a reason, though.

That part was a struggle.

But, all in all, this book was a steamy, sweet, perfectly wonderful quick read!

I LOVED this book!! This is the first book in the Carmichael Family series and is Moss, 1 of 5 brothers, and Brooke's book. Tropes include friends-to-lovers, co-workers and fake dating.

It's low on angst, high on chemistry and shenanigans! Boys with be boys! Can't wait to see what these characters get up to next as I can already tell this is going to be an amazing series!

Highly recommend!
