OMG! I loved this one and I can't wait to read more. Alf is a wonderful character, strong, spunky, and magical. The cast of characters are quirky, the mystery is captivating, and the mix with the paranormal is brilliant. This is one series that I'm going to devour.

The story was good and cute. However it didn't feel like a mystery.I wasn't guessing or trying to solve the mystery since there wasn't much of one.It did take me a couple of days to finish because it wasn't capturing my full attention. If it only was as good as I hoped it would be,I would've finished it one sitting.

I loved how this book had so many quirky characters that you will either love or hate while Alf tries to work out if she can breath new life into the Inn that she found she now owned along with a whole village after her mum passed away. New to town she is not only the subject of gossip because of being new but also due to a body being found when she first arrives at the inn and the fact she may be competition for the other inn in town. I loved how you never knew who you could trust, whether she would be able to make it work or if she could get her confidence back in regards to her magic. This was a great read and kept me hooked until the end and can not wait to see what Alf gets up to next!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I really enjoyed this book up until the ending when everything fell apart and all the questions were answered. This conclusion was too fast and didn't make sense.

My first Jeannie Wycherley read and absolutely not my last. Where have these been all my life?! Alf, the ‘wonky witch’ and the star here is a very fun character who does a bit of fast growing up before the reader’s eyes.

This read manages to blend hospitality, friendship, family, loyalty, magic, mystery, a smidge of police procedural, a coming-of-age of sorts, and more, all while portraying excellent world-building with loads of potential.

Couldn’t put it down and cannot wait to read on in the series. A world worth getting lost in.
