Another well-crafted and gripping addition to the Cormorán Strike detective series! Robin goes undercover in a cult to work on the case for Colin edensor trying to save his son Will. She endures starvation, humiliation, near drowning and sexual encounters in the retreat room to try to find an angle to disempower this malevolent group posing as do-gooders. Learning about what really happened to the Drowned Prophet will unveil the truth and prove criminal action.

The mystery was great with lots of twists and turns and emotion. I always love the Strike/Robin partnership when they are in the thick of a case and was glad to see that dynamic held up even when they were unable to communicate regularly while undercover.

As much as I hate forcing a romance between Robin and Strike, I didn’t dislike how it was addressed in this book as much as in the others. It was a bit more understated.

This book was so good. I could tell the author did research on what it’s like to be in a cult because the cult that was created was very realistic. I also love the personal growth that Strike showed in this book. I’m so happy that he’s finally going to try to be happy!
